Tempe, AZ – The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team has agreed to terms on a three-year contract with Delaware tight end BEN PATRICK, the team’s seventh-round (215th overall) selection in the 2007 NFL Draft. In accordance with club policy, terms were not disclosed.
Patrick (6-3, 252) led all I-AA tight ends in receiving during his senior season at Delaware where he collected 64 receptions for 639 yards and six touchdowns. He was named an All-Atlantic Ten first-team pick in 2006 while also being selected as a semi-finalist for the John Mackey Award given to the nation’s top tight end.
The Savannah, GA native started his college career at Duke and played three seasons with the Blue Devils, leading the team in receptions during the 2004 and 2005 campaigns. After earning his degree from Duke, Patrick transferred to Delaware for his final season of eligibility in 2006. He finished his collegiate career with 143 receptions for 1,420 yards and eight touchdowns.
Patrick becomes the first member of Arizona’s 2007 five player draft class to be under contract.
