I wonder why agents and teams wait until 2 weeks before training camp to start talks. You'd think they would get on it soon after the draft. I've heard all the things about vet contracts and money due that they have to get done before they sign rookies but it just seems that they could get it done a long time before camp
I must be remember incorrectly. I thought the last two or three years 1st rounders have been in camp after a few days or a week at most.

No one wants to be the first to sign in fear that they might get less money than the people around them. Now we're seeing some early picks get signed (#9 just signed), so this should all start picking up this week.
True, especially since they'll get blasted in the press and on the 'net for taking a deal less than what others received. Of course then they get blasted in the press and on the net for being greedy.
I'll never forget how people kept talking about how contracts should be incentive laden instead of just giving unproven rookies so much money and then when Ricky Williams did exactly that the same people were all over how stupid he was to do it.
