Hey, maybe I'm wrong, but if I see defensive players doing that stupid "Cardinal Wing" (or whatever it was) before we clinch the division this season, I'm going to bring this up again.

The true test of a team is not how it handles victory, that's the easy part. The true test is how it handles defeat. The Titans lost four in a row after a big season-opening defeat of Philly by a combined score of 80-135, including an overtime heartbreaker to Cleveland. The New York Jets lost four in a row after a big season-opening victory to in-state rival Buffalo by a combined score of 38-131. The league was ready to close the coffin on these teams, but they rallied around themselves and thier coaches to win thier respective divisions. Green Bay coasted to a 12-win season and basically clinched in November. They were ousted by the upstart, Wild Card Atlanta Falcons for the first playoff loss at Lambeau in history.

This game doesn't matter. Losses build character in a team. Wins build arrogance (remember how stupid the Cards looked in the San Fran game after they were caught strutting around after a 4-2 record?). I'll take a meaningless, character-building, injury-free loss over a meaningless August win and later loss of confidence after the first double-digit blowout.

Are you saying an August shellacking for Green Bay would have helped them in the playoffs last year? Or that pre-season losses helped the Jets rally in regular season? Where is the proof??? This is really really really out there. There is absolutely no reason to believe Tango's crack pshychology theory here folks.

i don't care who wins as long as everyone on our team stays healthy and ther are no torn ACLs.

we lost 3 guys for the season, and had 11 total go down that game. I'll always remember JJ McClesky's grimacing face as he was being carried off the field by two trainers.

Guys, I'm sure the reasoning is logical but please help me understand it. How is it that our players would be more prone to injuries but the vikings players won't? I understand that they play on that field more but when the receivers are running their routes do they actually thing about that in the heat of the game? Do they know problem areas on the field and actually run routes to avoid them? The reason I'm asking this is if this is the case, wouldn't the NFL force them to fix it? In other words, we could dig a few problem areas in SDS, covered up well with the natural turf and make our players well aware of them. Run routes around them. Would that be wrong and what's the difference?

There's no predicting injuries. We just had two guys blow knees on natural turf making normal cuts.

The problem areas on the Vikings field measusres 54 yards wide by 320 yards long. Next to the old Philly carpet the Vikings carpet ranks next worst. Now it is te worst. More players have been injured on those two fields than all other fields in the NFL. The Vikings players are used to plaing on this field so they are more apt to know how to run and stop on this carpet then those who don't play on it regularly.

Also let it be known other than the stadium the Cards play on (SDS) the playing field is considered the on of the best if not the best playing fields in the NFL.

Most carpeted fields have on underlayment (substrate) of either, concrete, or asphalt. It is like playing on the street in front of your house. Not much give. This is why most fields have been converted to either Sod, Next turf or New turf.

Vikes game

40 YEAR FAN: Believe me, the Vikes dont need help selling tickets. They are sold out every game. Some single tix will be available at bars etc but they have been selling out for years. Even during losing seasons. Interesting , eh?
Vikes have their problems at RB and FS so this might be a short night for Moe Williams and others. The opener is against the Pack at Lambeau so Tice isnt going to be taking any chances.
We will be there and I had hoped to see the "New Cardinals" for more than a few plays but I understand Mac's concern on the worst artificial turf in the league.(Philly got a new field).
Lets prepare to watch a dull exhibition and hope for no major injuries.
PS: The beer will be good no matter how dull the game is.
