Per Mike Jurecki:

Cardinals bye week specialists workouts include: K Randy Bullock, K Billy Cunduff, P Brandon Fields & P Spencer Lanning.

IMO either of theses punters would be a positive over Butler.

Hmmm, and Butler was just starting to kick well. But I honestly worry about him if we make a playoff run, he doesn't seem to do well under pressure.

Just get somebody who gets his kicks away quickly, and doesn't shank every 2nd or 3rd punt, and I'd be happy. Pretty much anybody would be an upgrade. I'd hate to see the Cards get lulled into non-action by a few good punts by Butler. There's always another turkey lurking, or worse, a game-losing block or 30-yard line drive that gets returned to the house or sets up game-winning field position for the opponent. Nip this problem in the bud!

As much as we like Catman, if my memory serves me correctly he's not been anything special kicking 50+, plus it seems BA often doesn't risk a miss with him at that range.

I loved him last year but since that first miss last year he just hasn't seemed to be the same.

Yep.

Including preseason I think he's missed 5 XPs this year

Not to mention they combined to make the last home game very interesting when it should not have been that close. We win that game 27-10 if that extra point is made. Butler's block probably wasn't on him but he does have kind of a slow release.

I think it would be a big mistake to get rid of Catanzaro just yet. I understand he's missed some extra points, but he's a young guy with a nice leg & a lot of upside.

Butler can definitely be replaced NOW and it would be an upgrade. Cat-man? Not so sure. Lots of kickers out there, but all have issues or they wouldn't be unemployed. I say keep Cat for now, put Butler on the next Strayhound® out of town.

Not only missing extra points he's also having some problems with his kick offs too. Either he's lost some leg strength already which isn't a good sign or he's just in a slump??

Yes kick offs have been an issue too.

Catanzaro is getting to Neil Rackers like for me. One good season, and now he is missing chip shots when it counts.

Happy to see the team looking into other options.

Could there be a possiblity that Cat maybe hurt or just not 100%? Or maybe he is hurt mentally now that he feels he is on a thin line if he misses kicks now

Ummmm Kick offs too short that are allowing other teams the opportunity to return the ball. Pretty much inexcusable considering where they kick off from now.

Chandler Catanzaro ARI K 51 3,368 0 66.0 28 54.9 23 24.7 0 0 0

Only 55% of his kicks go for touchbacks. That is 25th in the league.

His 25 yard average return is 21st in the league.

In short, he is a bottom 10 kicker when it comes to kick offs and he consistently gives the opposing team an advantage with starting field position.

Maybe because our opponents have been playing from behind and taking a chance on running out of the end zone instead of the touchback.

I dont get it, his KO avg is right near the top @ 66 yds per (vs 66.9 #1), but he's still 20th in touchbacks @ 54%.

I wonder if it's our horrible coverage teams that opponents are bringing the ball out on us, where as at similar depth against other teams, they wouldn't.

Kick Off coverage has been one area that Whiz's teams surpassed BA's.

Go Cards!!!

This is more my thinking.
