According to Wiki, this was shot in Paris.

Huge John C Reilly fan, I think the guy is funny as hell. I'm always up for a good comedy so I figured I'd give this movie a shot. Note: It's only 1 hour 20 minutes long.

The first 30 minutes of this movie were slow as hell. Pretty much 99% of the movie takes place in one NY appartment and those first 30 minutes are purely the setup. Then about mid way through the movie things start to evolve and pick up.

It's the last 30 minutes that are what makes this movie and it's where Reilly is LOL funny. This movie is really about the performaces that Reilly and the other three give. There are only 4 characters and each is given there time to shine.

Probably not worth seeing in the theater (unless you are in the mood for a quick comedy) but definitely worth a rental when it comes out.

It's all done in essentially two rooms of an appartment. The four main characters are never shown outside of that apartment. Which kind of makes this feel kind of like a play being watched on the big screen.

Ditto. And I will never see a movie with the name Roman Polanski attached. Rape a 13 year old and become an icon. Only in Hollywood.

:yeahthat:

I don't care what kind of talent the guy is - what he did is inexcusable and he should have to pay for his crime.

ok.. went to see this with the family.. Didn't know Roman Polanski was invovled, didn't know much about it other than who was in it and what it seemed to be about... It was one of those impulse movie choices...

That movie was the most boring, overwrought, pieces of crap I have ever seen... seriously, if Roman Polanski had not wirtten this, or directed it, no one would have given the script a second look...

They should have just set s video camera in front of the actual play and simply played that...

Worst movie I have seen in a LOONG long time...

And it has no ending

did know it was polanski until the opening credits. that said . . .

this movie was fantastic. the underlying tension and individual performances were terrific. and it was funny. i, and the entire theatre (granted it was one of those artsy theatres - hence the use of theatRE instead of theater), were laughing almost from the get go of the movie through the end (and of course there's no "end" - this is supposed to be a glimpse into a real life - albeit ridiculous - day which typically doesn't have a "story arc end."

i thought it was an intelligent flick. and i hate kate winslett and jodie foster, but they (along with reilly and the dude from inglorious bastards) were perfectly cast.

the setting is most play-like, but there was really only one point where i felt like i was watching a dramatization - which makes this a victory in my opinion.

I pretty much agree 100%. Although I though it was a little slow in the begining. The last half of the movie had me on the floor laughing.

I was wondering where I recognized that other actor from.

I thinks it's foremost a drama with dark humor sprinkled throughout. It's not light. A bit of mental workout. But if you want something intelligent sit back and let it take you. Definitely not for everyone. And then there's the Polanski element . . .

I'm not usually a fan of these play type films, but the dark humor was fantastic. Especially as the tension built towards the end.
