Seeing as how tmw is Cinco de Drinko/Mayo, I am going to try my hand at making home made Carne Asada. I have never done this before and am looking at a few different recipes online. Does anyone have a good recipe or am I on my own?

Here is Tyler Florence's recipe http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/tyler-florence/tacos-carne-asada-recipe/index.html

I have used that with success.

I have this old mexican cookbook I'll dig out the recipe if I can remember when I get home and post it here.

So a few of my hispanic friends told me to check out Super Carneceria el Torito in Queen Creek. SO I obliged. Food is going on the grrill at about 5. I will let you know how it turns out. HAving paid $22 for 3 lbs of meat it had better be AMAZING.

Biggest thing I miss about living in AZ are the shops and the restaurants.

If you haven't yet, get on over to Globe and enjoy Libby's El Rey or Chalo's. Good day drive and only about an hour from Apache Junction.

I know the folks that own El Rey, I used to work with their daughter.

Another good place on the way to Globe is Los Hermanos in Superior. That is a staple for any trip I take that way.

Biggest thing I miss about living in Calif. is Juanita, my neighbor, who used to sell her home-made tamales door-to-door from a cooler. $5.00 for six. Muy delecioso. Nothing on earth like a really good tamale.
