I may give James Jones credit for hiring Monty, signing Cam Payne and Jae Crowder, also putting the Finals team together, but not a lot more.

Monty hire, I suppose makes sense. He was a future scapegoat by JJ but a good hire that I'll give JJ credit for.

Monty had a relationship with Cam Payne and suggested him to the team, like he also did with Shamet a little while later. So JJ doesn't deserve credit for that solely.

Crowder is a weird one. The ending here soured me on him and then more came out and I realized he wasnt to blame. He did well here but ultimately was a poor fit next to Ayton at PF. Any credit JJ deserves for bringing in Crowder is cancelled out by how his last year here played out. It's the GM's job to make the coach and player sitA down and solve their issues and we all saw that didn't happen. JJ let Crowder sit for months and his value dissipate also.

We won like 75% of our games with those 2 as a front court and 4 playoff series... I'd say it was a good fit.

Being cheap isn't something to applaud generally but if you're cheap then the chances of ending up in a massive hole from overspending is unlikely to happen.

At least the future is not jeopardized for years and years into the future.

It's been pretty clear to me for a long time that Jones (as he has openly admitted) hates the draft, wants nothing to do with the draft, and ergo is very likely the responsible party for engineering our void of draft picks for the next six years. I would further submit that unless he's replaced as GM and soon, we will likely see many more of our future drafts disappear in trades for bloated contracts and over the hill talent.

It's also been long clear to me that he believes that an NBA roster should be predominantly composed of mid-sized shooting wings with interior size and practical ballhandling a secondary consideration. As we have seen the last few years, even with (relatively speaking) "premium" talent on that kind of a roster, it's a dreadfully unbalanced approach and guaranteed to fail over the long haul. But good luck on getting him to admit it.

It's pretty clear that the Suns are going to have start over with another approach soon. I just hope to heck James Jones will not be a part of the personnel decisions by that point because it will likely guarantee another set of disastrous choices.

I recognize we had success with Crowder and Ayton but I also believe it was a good fit with CP3, Booker, and Mikal all together. It took all 5 working together to make it work. Once Paul started regressing and Ayton quit trying it all fell apart. Crowder and Ayton were the back tires, Booker and Mikal the front, and CP3 was the engine in a front wheel drive car.

James Jones used to appear on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM weekly.

Anyone know if he does anymore because I haven't heard a peep?

Nothing is going to change. Ishbia made his mark the day he took over (literally the day) and it’s been dumb blockbuster and dumb blockbuster. Yes Jones should be fired he brings nothing to franchise. Josh Bartlestein will be the next puppet.

You had me until you said FWD.. Its too bad they weren’t performing like a Civic Type R at least.

I agree CP3 was holding it all together. Father time got to him more and I think he wore down other players.

They brought up a good point on a podcast about the Suns. How much leeway do you need before you are blindsided? Bud telling him before a game, is that being blindsided? Not like you have to give him a 2 week head's up.

It depends on if he learned about it through the reports that was the plan vs Bud telling him before it was public. If he had to learn about and ask if it was true or have it confirmed after hearing the rumors then that's definitely blindsided.

Beal can't be that dumb and naive though. He knows we are losing, and is not producing. He knows he is the third banana. Even more engaged fans called for this to happen prior to the season after already going through one season of this crap.

Which fans? There isn't a consensus amongst fans what would fix the Suns. Beal isn't dumb and he has more information than anyone here does since he's in the huddles, practices, team meetings, and locker room. He knows the real personalities of everyone on the team and front office since he has actual relationships with them.

Calling him dumb because he doesn't see himself as the problem, which is the narrative pushed by those who celebrated his demotion here, only shows how he's being scapegoated for things outside of his control. No one player is the problem, especially one who has missed roughly 40% of the games since he's been here.

First his absence was blamed by a large portion of fans and now his presence is blamed for the teams issues. Which is it? Or could it be that he's not as big of an issue individually as the overall culture and construction of the team?

-Some have posted here. During phnx shows. Other social media. Gerald Bourguet has said more than once that Beal will not come off the bench both on the show and in social media.

-Its both. The best thing he could be is available. And when he is available and coupled with certain players on the court, he is not effective. Which is the reason why many have said that he should come off the bench.

It is known that KD and Nurk read social media, I'm sure others do to and Beal is not excluded, so lets not pretend Beal is completely clueless on this matter.
