Where - Little Caesars Arena; Detroit, MI
How to Watch - FanDuel Sports Network South

The Carolina Hurricanes kick off their penultimate road trip of the season tonight with a game against the Detroit Red Wings (34-33-7).

The Canes are fresh off of clinching a seventh consecutive playoff berth following the team's 5-1 victory over the Washington Capitals on Wednesday.

With eight games remaining on the schedule and little chance of moving anywhere within the division, these games will be more or less sharpening stones for the Hurricanes, with health being the top priority.

On the flip side, the Red Wings are fighting for the playoffs lives after a disappointing stretch has them well outside the wild card.

Detroit is six points back of WC2, but they're also going to have to jump three teams ahead of them to even have a chance.

Streaks

  • Taylor Hall (5g, 2a) and Seth Jarvis (3g, 5a) have points in five consecutive games.
  • Sebastian Aho (2g, 3a) has points in three straight games.
  • Shayne Gostisbehere (3a) has points in back-to-back games.

Milestone Watch

  • Jordan Martinook is one assist away from 100 Hurricanes assists.
  • Jaccob Slavin is four points shy of 300 career points.
  • Brent Burns is four assists shy of 100 assists as a Carolina Hurricane.

Game Notes

  • Carolina is 2-0-0 over Detroit this season, having won 2-1 at Little Caesars Arena on March 4 and 4-2 at Lenovo Center on March 14.
  • The Canes are 9-2-1 over the Red Wings in the teams' last 12 meetings.
