Just don't let Steve Smith get behind the secondary!

I think we have to accept that it's just going to happen.

Let's just limit it...that's all we can hope. Or that the QB can't hit him out there.

It doesn't matter. Double-covered, short patterns or deep ones, he'll get his hands on the ball and score. There's only one way to hold him down. Terrorize the QB and put him on the ground hard, many times.

At first I thought you were talking about Reggie Wells. ;)

I'm pissed I'll be on a plane during the game. This might be the first blow out since we've had since the 1970's.

Let us not forget that we are the team that allowed Donovan McNabb to beat us despite only playing on one leg!

I hate when people say stuff like that. I don't think Joel Mackovika or Martay Jenkins will be taking the field. This is a different team. The team you are eluding to was one of the worst football teams ever assembled. This team is legit.

A guy at work was saying that he was at the game the last time Testaverde came to town to face the Cardinals, (when???) somebody in the crowd was yelling something such as "Nice Fiesta Bowl, Vinnie!" :p

For those too young to remember :) Heisman winner Testaverde suffered four sacks and five interceptions vs. Penn State in the 1987 Fiesta Bowl.

I think that is when he first got the nickname Interceptaverde.

Here's a great article about that game. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/eticket/story?page=fiesta87

"Excuse me," he said. "But didn't the Japanese lose the war?"

I was at that game

Experience often trumps youthful enthusiasm at the QB position. See Bret Favre. Wasn't Rich Gannon older than Kurt when he took the Ray-duhs to the Super Bowl a couple years ago? How old was Elway when he finally started winning super bowls?

I'd actually rather see the whippersnapper Carr out there than Vinnie. Vinnie's liable to discover the fountain of youth, get red hot, and light up Hood and Green. Or not. :D

Or Vinny could break his hip walking out to the huddle. :D

Maybe, maybe not--- (from CBS Sportsline)
In three games last year without Delhomme, Smith didn't score or even top 75 receiving yards. Through three games this year (mostly) without Delhomme, Smith has 89 yards (and an 8.9 avg.) and one touchdown. Compare that to his first two games with Jake: 271 yards (18.1 avg.) and four touchdowns.

Carr probable, likely to start

CHARLOTTE – Quarterback David Carr returned to practice on Friday and is likely to start Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Although coach John Fox would not declare Carr the starter, he is listed as probable on the injury report.

“That will be a game-time decision,” Fox said.

When asked how Carr looked after missing the last two days of practice with a back injury, Fox responded, “He looked good."

Fox later went on to say, "He was out there throwing. That’s a good start. I’m not sure if somebody rams into him that will be such a good thing.”

Carr also has a four-hour flight ahead of him, which may not help his back. The Panthers were scheduled to arrive in Phoenix late Friday night.

Also probable for Sunday's game are cornerback Ken Lucas and linebacker James Anderson. Both practiced full on Friday.

Linebackers Dan Morgan and Adam Seward and running back Nick Goings have been ruled out and will not travel to Arizona.

Nice. Goings is staying (in carolina).
It'd be great if the Panthers has another RB by the name of Cummings. That way you could have Cummings and Goings.

I wish people would think more about this sort of thing when they drafted for their football teams.

He won't be out there for long, I'm guessing.

Get him, AW!
It'll be interesting if Carr does go out with his back hurting early. I imagine Vinny's not in the best of shape yet, and might be a little prone to injury himself.

Truthfully, though, outside of this week, I'd really like to see Testaverde have a great season.

x 2. A classy guy. I was at Browns camp when I was 12 (long story), and all the Browns players were making fun of me (at least that's how I remember it). Vinny went out of his way to be nice to me and from then on I've supported him 100% (excluding this weekend, of course).

I actually love the fact that despite the flack he's gotten from his Hurricane and Buccaneer days, Vinny has had quite a remarkable career.
