Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck has been named as a transfer with the "most to prove" according to Brad Crawford of 247Sports. Beck transferred to Miami this offseason after initially declaring for the NFL draft. He's drawn a lot of media attention for his decision to go to Miami and for the name, image and likeness deal he received.

"Carson Beck made a calculated decision when he removed himself from the 2025 NFL draft and decided another year in college was best for him," said Crawford. Beck was Georgia's starting quarterback in 2023 and 2024 before he suffered an elbow injury in the 2024 SEC championship game that required surgery and forced him to miss Georgia's bowl game. Beck is still not close to being a full participant in practice with Miami.

Beck is facing immense pressure to return to full strength. He needs time to build chemistry with Miami's pass catchers ahead of the Hurricanes' season opener against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Aug. 31.

"There's a chance — if he cuts down on mistakes and poor decision-making — he could rise in the 2026 conversation for top players at the position. Miami's offense brought out the best in Cam Ward last fall. Could Beck see a similar rise?" added Crawford.

Beck entered the 2024 college football season as a potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, but his 2024 campaign did not go as planned. Beck threw for 3,485 passing yards, 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions during the 2024 season at UGA. He ended the year on a hot streak (11 touchdown passes and no interceptions over his final three-plus games).

However, his decision-making (six more interceptions in 2024) and efficiency (1.7 yards per attempt less in 2024) was notably down from the 2023 season. Beck will have to try to bounce back in a new system.

Miami helped former Washington State transfer Cam Ward elevate his name to the top of the 2025 NFL draft conversation. The Hurricanes will look to do the same with Carson Beck, but his injury and 2024 season cast doubt on if he'll be able to return to his 2023 form.
