This was said by DD. It appears the whole team likes the hands on approach he offers. It's going to be a fun year if nothing else1

Sounds like BA will be getting a full effort from the team. Can't wait until the first preseason game to see how this will come together.

Nice to see BA's already gained the respect from the players

awesome. I think this squad is capable of some big things and will surprise a lot of members that are expecting low wins

Have to admit, I wasn't expecting much from CP, when the trade was announced. And then I realized that I had NO IDEA of his stats, last year. The media, when informed that he had 4K passing yards, always say, "What about the Raiders' won-loss record?". My point is that a lot of the negativity about CP centers around the fact that he played on a bad team. And the bad team would have been a lot better (along with CP) if their best player, argueably, Darren MacFadden hadn't, once again, gotten hurt. Mark me excited about our team.

The players who are not new to the Cards this year will love BA just because of the last couple of years of suckage, a change was needed. I do get the sense that BA has a way about him that does get players buy in which is nice.

Bottom line is always about W's & L's. How long can BA keep the "love" going if the Wins don't come early this year?

I'm still expecting a lower win tally this year, but am expecting the team to be a hell of a lot more competitive than last year.

There's no way we win less games. Palmer could go down and we'll still win more games. Palmer was a great addition but honestly we could have turned our QB roster over and replaced them with anyone and it would have been an improvement. Our QB play for the last few years was some of the worst I've ever seen.

you think we'll have lower wins than last year still? Or lower wins than .500. The latter probably is true. But doubt the former

I went to an Andrew Luck Q&A session on Friday, in London. Without being prompted he was very complimentary and postitive about BA and how much he helped the young players. It made me feel excited about this coming season!

When you read the part about Palmer saying him and Arians is building something special I can't help but think this could be Warner/Haley part 2.

I happen to think that what we saw last season in Indy , is what we got . Let's take a look at the math ,(math don't lie) when BA is in complete charge of the sideline , Interim HC -- OC that 2---14 team posted a record of 9 -- 3 . Now , when Pagano was in charge of the sideline the team posted a record of 2-- 3 (that's 4 reg season , and 1 playoff game) . That 2 --- 3 is about what could be expected from a team trying to climb back from a 2 ---14 season . I don't believe that the 9 -- 3 is a fluke , I believe that is what we have in BA . A couple of weeks back I posted on the won / loss thread that I thought we would win 11 games in 2013 , and I honestly would have picked higher if we were in a lesser division . Time will tell whether or not I am right , but for now I believe we have the real deal , that BA is going to become one of "Those" coaches !!

I have never followed the Bengals but I wonder if Palmer was ever this excited about football or if this is his MO.

The only ***** in the armor is the pass-blocking ability of the tackles IMO. I wish I could be more optimistic about that, but I just don't see Levi and Bobbie Massie being able to block the defensive ends in the NFC West.

I am optimistic that BA, Tom Moore and Carson Palmer will be more successful on offense that the disaster of the last three years. How much more successful and how healthy the Cardinals are will tell the tale of the 2013 season. If everything goes right, and the Cardinals win the close games, a playoff berth is possible IMO. Another 5-11 is also possible, if Carson Palmer or Patrick Peterson go down and the O-line can't get the job done.

Now this makes me want to hit fast forward to September!

“I love the head coach,” Palmer said of Arians. “I mean, I love the head coach. He keeps it real. He already has this team wrapped around his finger. And we have some talented players in this locker room.”

I have this feeling that Palmer is going to have a good year. My feelings like this are worthless but with a new established QB and some of our new signings beyond the draft look good. I start this year feeling a lot better about our team than last year. I think on a given day we will have the capability to beat anyone. Sounds crazy? Yes it does but that is my feelings.

you think? Massie was a top (#3 I believe) Tackle the last 8 weeks last year. He improved last year and think he will continue. Even Potter didn't look that bad and he's supposed to be super unpolished. And for whatever reason, Arians has a lot of faith in Levi. Scary IMO. But I hope it works out. Also, we have our new beast of a G who's reputation is for helping the C/T around him and making them look better as much as it is for his own play

To add a little. First 3 games vs NFC West 14 sacks for 89 yards in losses. Second three games 7 sacks for 51 yards in losses. So they did get better. Sadly Skelton and Lindley substituted interceptions for sacks. :(

Odd John Skelton stat: In game one vs the 49ers last season he was 32 of 52 with only one INT and the Cards only scored 3 points! How can you complete that many passes and only score 3 points!

More news of the weird. In two seasons in Arizona Kevin Kolb threw one pass vs the 49ers!

You gotta love Cardinals football.

I hope they are improved, they almost have to be over what happened last season. For sure the pass protection from the running backs will be improved and I suspect Jonathan Cooper will quickly get up to speed.

I'm of the opinion that BA will be able to establish some semblance of a legitimate running game or at least enough of a run game that the opposing defenses will have to respect it which should stop DEs from teeing off on Palmer.

I think that is why he drafted the two kids in the draft. One who can hit the home run on occasion and one who can get the tough yards late in the game when we need a first down or two to close out the game. If you can get the defense to respect the run game to the extent that if they don't we have enough of a threat to hit some long runs then it should give Palmer the ability to run some play action to hold the defense from bringing the house down on him.

We certainly have a line that should be able to get some push in the run game especially on the left side with Levi and Cooper. Two guys that should be able to open some seams for the RBs to slip through.

First post, let's hope I can make it a good one...

RE: Offensive Line

Theoretically, the line should be improved. Levi returning is a variable but in his last season, over 16 games, he allowed 11.5 sacks (profootballweekly). He also finished the season strong over the last 8 games. If Potter fills in at LT, I'd be comfortable with that as well as he finished pretty well and held his own against some tough pass rushers during his 8 games at LT.

Left guard should go to Cooper and we don't know how Cooper will fare in the NFL but his game translates well. I think in pass sets he will be good and his run blocking will improve as the season progresses.

Center still belongs to Sendlein and he had a down year last season due to those around him IMHO. Snyder wasn't really good and Colledge even had his struggles. Depending on if someone else emerges as a good center candidate, Send will get the start and be fine.

I'm fully expecting Watford to get a shot during the season at right guard. He's basically been toted as a Cooper-lite with only facing small school competition but almost owning the Senior Bowl during drills/game.

Massie did extremely well down the stretch and he really just needs to continue to build on that progress and refine his game.

RE: Carson

I think it's important to note that good QB play will also make the line seem better. Quick decisions will be imperative when the play calls for it and Carson is good at making reads and giving the ball to the best read. He will not be Kurt Warner-esqe but he will be an improvement over what's been here in the desert since Kurt.

RE: Arians

I love hearing about how the entire team is buying into the system and that they like BA. At times, I've wondered if the team fully bought into Whiz and Co. because they never seemed like they were giving 100% effort. I think Arians will get everything from everyone and we'll get a real chance to see some really tight football games will 100% effort on every down.

I like Arians but you have to look at the schedule the Colts played last year too. They won games against a very weak schedule.

I thought he did a terrific job and I hope he gets a chance to do that here too,but he did have an advantageous schedule last year to help.

(it was a good first post by the way)

I strongly agree with everything you said. Except I could see Kelemete getting his shot at RG as well as Watford. Depending on development. I highlighted the bold part because I really hope BA plays the best of the 2. He seemed really high on Levi, who I don't know if he is our best option
