They were just now discussing this on Sirius nfl--they said Carson himself had narrowed his options to SF and AZ as the two teams he wanted to play for...

If he wants to actually play it will be AZ.

As a Cardinal fan, I can see this dismal future...Palmer signs with the Niners, Kap goes down with an injury due to his scrambling ways and freaking Palmer leads them back to the championship LOL

He lives in the Bat Area so he wouldn't have to move his family if he signs with the 49ers. He would back up Kaep but I could see him starting if Kaep goes down with an injury. I think Harbaugh could make a good sales pitch to get him.

I just thought he meant that if his role is a backup he'd prefer to go to SF but if its to start he'd come here. Pure speculation on my part.

Cards have the money under the cap to give Palmer a decent contract while the 49ers are right up against the cap.

i just don't understand how people think adding another WR is going to help keep any QB upright with our abysmal O-line.

we draft another WR this year and I'll officially start calling for Keim's head because we will have turned into the Matt Millen Lions.

The coaching was abysmal. The o-line has enough talent. I am certain of that.

Relax, bro.

how can you be certain of that? have you seen them good on other teams at this level? personally, my line of thinking is that if the O-line had that much talent, coaching wouldn't have held them back... or made them the worst O-line in football.

Relax, bro.

lame. just because I don't see any evidence of the O-line actually being good, doesn't mean I'm freaking out... it just means you gotta prove something to me before I'm certain of anything, much less certain that something is completely different then what I've watched for the last three years.

Your response says it all. Relax. Seriously. We are kicking butt next year. Trust me. I'm a lawyer after all. :)

as much as I think Palmer COULD be a disaster in the making, it would give me at least a slight glimmer of hope for the upcoming season. We go into the season with Stanton as our QB and I feel like the season's over before it even started.

Yes! I agree 100%. I'm not a Palmer fan but at 33 and wear on the tires he is still 100% better than any QB on the roster now. I would feel much more comfortable heading into the season With Palmer than Stanton. A trade is unlikely and it will all come down to how much.

Not only a WR, but an extremely overrated one. Austin is a 2nd rounder IMO.

I would think that the 49ers would want a more mobile QB for a backup, and Palmer doesn't seem the type to run the offense (SF) that they'll be using with Kaepernick (Sp?). JMO.

Palmer would bring more talent than Arizona has ever seen at the QB position. Before everyone gets all up in arms, Warner was a better QB but Palmer is more naturally talented. If Arians and Moore are the QB gurus everyone, including themsleves, claims them to be, then picking up Palmer and getting him to play at a high level could be a real coup for the Cards.

Actually, with Palmer in the mix, you don't have to waste any draft picks on a qb this year. You can afford to wait until next year, or the year after, when the talent level should be a little better. You keep Stanton and Hoyer this year, and cut bait with Skelton and Lindley.

Totally agree with you. Use the draft picks to build a strong offensive line.
Would love to see Alabama players OG Warmack and C/OG/OT Barrett Jones as the first two picks.

A trade is out of the question, Garth, as the Raiders will have no other choice but to release him anyway.

Not sure about this but i seem to recall reading somewhere that the Raiders wouldn't have to release Palmer until close to the start of the season.

Surely he's going to have to restructure his contract even if a team trades for him, but if a team wants to be able to plan the draft and have Palmer around in the offseason, it may be worth giving up a late conditional pick or two.
