Just looking back at Warners first season in AZ at age 34.

13 games 10 Starts
64.5%
2713 yds
11 TDs & 9 INTs
7.2 YPA

Compare to Palmer at age 34 so far...
11 Games
63.3%
2887 yds
16 TDS 15 INTs
7.3 YPA

I realize that Palmer is not Warner but could he be "Warner-lite"? Meaning as he gets more comfortable with the offense and players and the team starts to add more pieces around him could we see a similar "resurgence"?

I doubt we ever see 66 or 67% completions from Palmer like we did with Warner but around 61-64 and 25-30 TDS isn't that far fetched.

His last 6 games shows he's getting more confidence in the offense and the players surrounding him.

Against Indy the protection was decent again. They gave him 3 plus seconds most plays. That's all you can ask against a team like that. Give him any time with those recievers and good things happen. That will be a key going forward.

Whiners loom as the ultimate test end of the schedule. Maybe we can steal one against the Hags before that.

his last 2 games he has been as good as an QB in the NFL. Still has a very strong arm and will stand in and take the hit in order to make a completion. Got to say his receivers have been really good. Dansby should be considered for All Pro this year along with Campbell. Our defense is much better than the stats are showing. We are on a ROLL anyway you look at it. I predicted 7-9 at the start of the year. Seems I am not very smart. We have a 6'10" 310 lb interior lineman at Arkansas that is blocking kicks and plays a lot like Campell and a kicker that has broke all records for kicking. Both these guys will go to the NFL. I do not know if the big guy could play DLT or not but he sure can jump aside from his height. Palmer and our defense made Luck look like a rookie. A rookie I still would love to have. Let us pray that Palmer stays healthy.

I hope he does a lot better than Warner did in Philly during our SB year. :D

I wanted him as Warner's replacement when he wanted out of Cincinnati, but I don't think it would have worked out as well with our old system and am much happier that we got CP now and that it is working out.

Arians and Keim are still saying that the int's early were more route running errors than qb errors. Palmer is a competent NFL qb, which is exactly what this team needs. It doesn't need a gunslinging risk taker.

The thing I most admire about Palmer at this moment is that he is still standing. The fact that he has been able to remain healthy so that the Cards could avoid the revolving door at qb they have had the last few years has been key.

One of the marks of a good qb is his ability to get the ball out quickly. I was listening to Ron Jaworski say that he went over every pass Manning attempted in the game against KC. The average time from snap to release was 2.1 seconds. QB's stay healthy and avoid sacks when they can get the ball out that quickly.

I think a lot of us have been thinking it but nobody wanted to say it.

:stick:

Yeah, I know, I even hesitated bringing it up.

I don't think Palmer is a MVP caliber QB but I think he can be a playoff caliber QB, especially as he grows in this offense and if the right pieces are added in the offseason (OT & legit TE for sure).

Just for the record I don't think we make the playoffs this year...we won't catch Carolina or San Fran--we could win 10 games and still be out.

Yeah that was brutal. I remember being so POed after that game, they looked like a team that didn't care and wanted nothing to do with playing that game (and that was repeated against NE later that season).

The only thing I am concerned with in Palmer on the last few games is he had a lot of almost INTs. He had 1 or maybe even 2 that should have been caught for INTs against the Colts. He is playing great, but there have been quite a few of the "they should have intercepted it" passes.

And we got back at all of those 2008 teams. Lost to Carolina, beat them handily in the playoffs. Lost to Eagles, beat them in NFC Championship game. Lost to Vikings, hammered them in Glendale the next season. Lost to NE, beat them in Foxboro breaking their long streak, though it took a couple of years.

The Seahawks have the best pass rush in the NFL to me...what the Niners have to me is the best OL :)

If my memory severs me...Jake Plummer gave the Eagles hell in Philly, we should resign him for this game lol

Nope. Kurt Warner went to 3 super bowls and won one.

Until Carson takes the Cards to a SB, pure stats don't mean a whole lot.

During Palmer's career, I've been surprised at how long it's taken him to acclimate to different offenses. Once he does, he seems to be pretty good but each successive time, it seems to me that a veteran QB with his experience should be able to hit the ground running so to speak.

But he definitely has looked better recently and he still has the ability to throw the ball well given the right circumstances. The o-line and running game need to remain viable but that isn't any different than in '09.

Barely.

I wonder what Kurt's "legacy" would be like if the Titans had managed to tie the game on that final play and had gone on to win that game?

Palmer is at a 69% completion rate over the past 4 games and has a QB rating averaging over 105% during the same time span. That's pretty close to Warner and at least qualifies for Warner-lite if he keeps playing this well.

Let's see Carson string a bunch of games together with a good amount of yards and a better than 2.5:1 TD:INT ratio.

Not sold on anything yet with Carson except that he's the starter for the remainder of the season.

Which Warner? The 2002-2006 Warner and his 85 QB rating and 27TDs with 30 INTs or the Warner of 2007-09 who lit up the NFL?

Carolina still has to play the saints twice.
