No one expected Warner to be as good as he ultimately was here, and I don't know that there's any point in holding Palmer to the standard of Warner in Arizona while simultaneously not giving him the same amount of time to get there. I think the bottom line is that it's good to see him improving, and even if we debate whether a QB should be drafted high this offseason, Palmer is still a lot better than everyone since Warner.

Which Warner? The 2002-2006 Warner and his 85 QB rating and 27TDs with 30 INTs or the Warner of 2007-09 who lit up the NFL?

:D

yep. Funny what a better supporting cast can do

while I think there are QBs that can make the players on offense around them better -- those guys are few and far between. Warner was close -- with good WRs he could cover up for a marginal O line

Palmer isnt at that level.

That being said -- here is the comparison I like to make ( both QBs have played 10 years):

QB A: Career QB rating: 82. Comp %: 58.5% TD/Int ratio: 1.4/1

QB B: Career QB rating: 86. Comp %: 62.6% TD/Int ratio: 1.4/1

QB A has two Super Bowl wins. QB B hasn't won a playoff game. Who is the better QB?

QB A is Eli Manning. QB B is Carson Palmer.

to be clear: I am not saying Palmer is "the ANSWER". Just saying that you can win with "good but not great" QB play if you are good everywhere else. Heck-- its what the 49ers are banking on as we speak

Good point! And you can lose with a great quarterback if he doesn't have a supporting cast, see Indianapolis. The next five games will be very important.

One very good thing about Carson. He has stayed healthy.

Really amazing that the Giants won a SB after a 9-7 regular season record and with a 10-6 regular season record. Green Bay won after a 10-6 RS. Baltimore also at 10-6. Cards made it to SB with a 9-7 record.

Too much emphasis on SB wins in defining success.

Agree. If this were the case, Dan Marino and Jim Kelly would be among the worst QBs ever.

Keim is giving alot of the credit to Freddie Kitchens. Said they've been putting alot of time into working on his footwork in the pocket. I think it shows.

the Giants and Baltimore teams are ones that give me hope

Manning and Flacco -- even in their SB years were okay, but not great qbs

Manning's regular season QB ratings in '07 and '11 were 74 and 93. But once he got into the postseason, they went up to 95 and 103.

Flacco is the same story: his regular season QB rating last year was 77. He went up to 117 in the postseason.

you just need to get in the tourney -- and then have your QB get hot.
