I have absolutely no problem with this. Suns shoudnt be forced to draft a player when money could be spent elsewhere. They not only saved money on the draft pick but sold it which is a double bonanza for them.

For the Suns to draft in the twenties range almost means they've given up on a championship. Theyre interested in bigger deals probably...but maybe not who knows.

I think I like David Stern more than Robert Sarver now!!! Stern only cost the Suns one Championship...

So now Splitter goes to the Spurs. He will most likely stay in Europe for a year so he won't cost them anything.

I'm a Suns fan, but I don't know all these crazy, twisted intricacies of the NBA. Didn't we draft someone? I haven't read anything about a trade of that player or pick anywhere else but here...not on NBA.com or Yahoo. What am I missing?

Wasn't tony parker drafted at #22?

At this point dirty and cheap or not the spurs deserve their championships, at least they have competent ownership who can put together a championship team without skyrocketing their team into luxury cap by massively oversigning players.

The suns selling all these picks, letting Tim Thomas walk, and overpaying for worthless marcus banks has just about done it for me.

Has the trade been officially announced yet? Everything on ESPN says that it's just "reports say". Could it be that we are getting cash and the first pick of the 2nd round for him and they can't announce it?

EDIT: My mistake, I thought Portland had an early 2nd rounder. Apparently I'm wrong.

Are we sure this is $$$ cash and not Swin Cash? I wouldn't put it past Sarver to save money by bringing in some WNBA players to fill out the bench.

I'm not impressed. Suns need to start thinking about the future and development of new player(s). Fernandez would have been an attempt in foresight towards that direction down the road. Suns are not getting younger. Cash doesn't to anything towards team building. Also, Steve Kerr has got to be a yes man. JMO.
I like the Tucker pick though.

And what does that mean? How many bums were drafted at #22? PLENTY.

The suns selling all these picks, letting Tim Thomas walk, and overpaying for worthless marcus banks has just about done it for me.

The Suns signed Nash didnt they? They were accused of overpaying for him even. Plus they've signed a lot of free agents sinces then...CHILL.

I thought our new crack GM Kerr felt we should draft and develop young players. I guess Sarver told him at their off site planning session that the goal is to save money.

You guys turning on Sarver over this??
How come Sarver is the only one selling picks? Shouldn't luxury tax be paid with team earnings? We are not the only team who will pay LT, but we are the only one who is selling picks for cash in order to pay it.

If the Suns did not want to add two players to payroll, they could have drafted Splitter or kept Ferdandez, both of whom will likely stay in Europe. Splitter is a 7-footer and he's someone who could definitely help down the road.

How much does Kerr make? They could have signed a pick instead of signing Kerr.

You know that this is probably one of the top 10 most utterly stupid things people constantly say on forums?

It is like the rednecks that say "America either love it or GEEET OUT YEEEE!"

Just **** with that garbage already

I know, I know... sorry about that.

I just have a short fuse when people talk about not watching a team anymore for reasons that IMO are minimal.

I just do not understand the strategy of selling the 24th pick for money. IMO it makes for bad PR. The Suns could have probably traded it to Portland for all (or at least a couple) of their second round picks.

I believe there was an article on draft express about how the Blazers wanted to package two of their second rounders and cash for a low 20's pick. LMAO
