6.4 million career earnings isn't bad.
That's the thing though - $185,000 is more than many people will ever make in a year, and those that do probably have a lot harder job than kicking a ball.

Not that his job doesn't have pressures, but the guy works half the year and has little risk of severe injury compared to most NFL players.

What's $185,000?
That was his one or two game pay from the Panthers. He got 3.7 mil last year from the Bucs also.

I know I would not want to risk my livelihood missing kicks which decide the effort of teammates who are physically more imposing... especially, after I was able to somehow squeak out a few million lol

I think the kid just needed a break. Something tells me he'll take a sabbatical, realize the real world is far less lucrative than that of an NFL kicker, and give it another shot. He does have a strong leg, so NFL teams will always give him a tryout.

FG kickers are just so hard to figure out. Kid had a great leg but just never seemed to be able to calm down.

I always remember Ray Wersching of the 49ers they led him around like he was blind so he wouldn't look up, he was so focused on the kick and trying to block out everything else. I remember one year he came to our HS on some career day and someone asked him about that and he said to be honest, looking at the crowd makes me nervous so by not looking up, I avoid getting nervous.
