Cat's game-winner would've been good if the uprights were 2ft apart

I believe it was FB Karma in another thread who said that since Cat didn't have enough time to overthink the kick it took the pressure off. That may be the case but I'm going with your theory that Catman is now clutch and I'll add that Palmers pep talk with him in the last game set Cat on the path to recovery.

Catanzaro is very fortunate to have his coaches who have his back. Being a RFA helps too, that will insure he is at least back for camp next year.

I know we've been tough on the dude but that kick was nails. Does this exorcise his clutch demons for good?
He's had the goofiest of seasons as far as kickers go. Misses a very makeable FG in week 1 then follows it up with a 60 yarder the following week. Then doinks a kick I could have made with my left leg in a cast kicking on crutches facing the opposite direction against Seattle but makes this one when the team had to rush onto the field. Put Rackers on his jersey and we wouldn't know the difference.

Let him compete for a job next year. Have to resolve the ST issues.

Nice kick that might get his head in a better place. But, NO WAY do you not have competition for him in preseason. And, a real competition. Same thing for Wile. Arians doesn't like to burn roster spots on extra kickers in camp, but that has to be different this year.

What was odd to me is that Wagner makes absolutely no effort to jump the C and block the kick? Watch closely the 2 guys on either side of him did exactly what they did the 2 times he jumped the C in the first game, they both intentionally hold down the OL on either side of Brewer, they are doing their exact set play to help Wagner jump Brewer, but he doesn't even move.

LIve I thought Sherman was offsides but on replay he's legal.

In that situation, I think Wagner has to weigh the risk of a penalty vs success in blocking it

Time running, not a gimme and he has to kick it-- if I were defending, I would be inclined to just give the regular hard rush and count on the guy to miss a hurried, pressure kick.

if Wagner miss times the jump or makes contact-- clock stops, 5 yards closer (15 if he makes contact IIRC) and another chance.

It also appears that the Cards figured out their "tell" on those snaps and fixed it.
