Dennis Erickson basically yanked Foles' scholarship offer to a school he had planned on attending for years by recruiting two QB's over him. Everyone would be pissed at a coach who pulled such a manuever right or wrong. Of course none of this will be said publicly due to the Foles family somewhat being public figures but that's what happened.

Gotcha.. thanks for clearing that up

And in the end, I disagree with you about the ASU QB situation being in ruins for the next 4 years, it is CRAP right now, because Sully shouldn't be starting for my alma mater High School Mountain Ridge, yet he is playing in the PAC-10, but over the next 3 years Osweiler/Scanasky will produce a formiddable 1-2 in passVSrun QB

Foles looked good Saturday, but how much of that is there is no tape on him, and no one knows how to prepare for him (aka the Josh McCown effect)

At this point it's highly unlikely Samson Scakacky will ever play play a meaningful snap for Arizona State. Not sure why people even bring up his name. He's buried way too deep on the depth chart.

There's plenty of tape of Foles, he can simply play. Great arm, accurate, NFL body, seems to have a good head on his shoulders. He just needs reps and experience. McCown's an awful comparison, that guy sucked from the get-go and never improved other than flashes of competency every couple months.

The offense Arizona runs is very streaky. I expect Foles to be the same until he gets a better hang of it but overall for Arizona to have a top 3 offense in the Pac.

Fun fact for everybody. The Foles family owns the popular franchise restaurant Z Tejas. I didn't know that until I read an interview with him a week or so ago.

Pretty sure they sold Tejas. His dad does own Roaring Fork, Wildfish, and Eddie V's here in Scottsdale however. Which is another reason he wouldn't get into a public pissing contest with Dennis Erickson.

The game tape on Foles would be the same tape on Tui... The only difference is that the playbook isnt as broad as it was when Tui was a senior last year. Not saying Foles isnt any beter or worse than Tui, but ifyour looking for game tape of Foles you watch Arizona last year and the year prior.

That's definitely one thing that worries me about Erickson. Not only has he done a mediocre job so far, he's obviously not a long term option.

Watched most of the Washington game, what an unbelievable finish. Foles looks pretty good, albeit with a limited game plan. Regardless, the short stuff was wide open all day, and Foles was really effective.

I'm glad Foles decided not to sign with ASU after Koetter got fired. Foles would definitely help the ASU offense this year and the following two.

If Gronkowski comes back next year then I think the UofA will be very strong and if ASU can get themselves a quarterback, they should be tough also because their defense should be strong once again.

Agreed, I couldn't see Gronk benefiting from skipping out next year. And with Gronk, Grigsby, Antolin, and Foles. We'll have a really frightening offense for opposing teams.

This year, I'd say we're one receiver away (and at least one healthy running back). Plus, doesn't it feel that Foles is just going to get better as he gets more acquainted with the offense?

Thats the key for this year. Get Foles comfortable in the offense, get our young defenders game time, and go to a bowl game for recruiting and practice reasons.

Then next year we have a chance to have the best Cats team (with Gronko coming back and a easier schedule) since 97/98 and 12-1.

This 3 game home stand is going to make or break our season. If the team is able to rebound after that gut wrenching loss in Seattle, UA should be well on its way to another bowl game.

However, if there is a hangover effect, its going to kick in against Stanford this weekend. Going 3-0 is possible on this homestand, but even 2-1 puts us in decent shape down the stretch, anything less and we all should be very worried.

LOL Hater - Ten bucks says they beat you chumps next week.

After 2 games Foles looks like he is going to be the best QB in recent program history. Damn Sunshine is the man.

So much for this bold claim :D

Will my Ten Bucks come in Cash or food stamps? (J/K.. I know it will be Cash)

It will come from Danny Sullivan's "air mail, wounded duck express" shipping

you can eat your crow now. Instead of whining about the officials, we bucked up, and beat the Huskies and the Zebras. ASU is gonna go on a rolllll

yes. to be the best you gotta beat the best, id rather play them now when we are starting to get a good flow going.

What good flow, the six turnovers at Washington St. or the needing a last second defensive breakdown by the opponent to avoid overtime at home?

I think ASU has a good shot against Stanford especially if Gerhart is out and you never know what you're going to get with Cal. It's highly unlikely they beat USC or Oregon however. The issue is that while Sullivan has been mostly serviceable at home he's been a trainwreck on the road which isn't surprising due to his deer in headlights demeanor.

Arizona needs to keep their eye on the ball against UCLA. Saturday's performance against Cal was an anomaly, the Bruin defense can play. Mike Stoops teams have geenrally not handled success very well and their first national ranking in a decade might get these guys reading their own press a bit too much. Save that for Wazzu when anyone in the Pac can play at 50% and still win at home.

I am not all that interested in whats going on with ASU to be completely frank until we come to Tempe and demolish you guys in late November. And I will be at that game so ASUDude beer on me for beating the Huskies.

Kind of funny you guys won on a fluke play at home and we lost on one on the road against UDub. But none of it matters now that we beat Stanford. The best college football in the state is being played in Tucson right now.

Don't believe me? Check out #22 on this list....

I guess the fact that Arizona possibly has the best QB-OL combo (the key to winning in the NCAA) in the conference has nothing to do with it. Or the 4-2 record against the 3rd most difficult schedule in the country with a couple easy wins still left on the schedule.

I went and saw SC live this weekend so my vote goes to them for best OL/QB combo in the conference but your point remains.

USC definitely has the best line, I do think Foles is better than Barkley at this exact moment. Probably not next year or perhaps as early as December though, Barkley is freakishly talented.
