I listened to NBA radio yesterday. They were saying that there's possibly a little tension between Knight and Bledsoe.
The ball just moved so much better tonight. It was pushed and all of a sudden we were moving it the ball and dos better executing plays.
Knight seemed more calm without another "pg" out there, he drove to the rim and was actually able to find another sun due to better spacing with a truer 3pt threat out there.
I think one of the big differences is that Tucker played basketball tonight. He's been a huge disappointment for more than a season but tonight he moved without the ball and was aggressive when the pass came his way. All told he was probably an average small forward tonight, maybe slightly better than average, and much better than his sub 10 PER. His play along with the presence of Booker helped the spacing considerably.
So the question I have about Tucker is, why? Has the problem been a lack of motivation? Did he benefit from something in tonight's matchup? Was playing next to Bledsoe causing problems for him or was there something in the scheme that's been improved by a change in the coaching staff? Or was tonight just one of those rare nights when he works hard the whole game?
Whatever it is, we're a lot better off if this Tucker shows up each night. He moved up about 10 spots in Hollinger's system (he's now the 281st best player), it would be nice if he could move into the top 200 or so by season's end. Keef is 1 slot above him at 280, Price comes in at 258 and Chandler at 230 - those numbers tell quite a story about our season so far. I think one of the things those numbers tell us is that it really isn't a stretch to give the younger players more court time.
