CB David Macklin Agrees To Terms

Tempe, Arizona -— Free-agent cornerback David Macklin, a 37-game
starter for the Indianapolis Colts over the past four seasons,
has agreed to the terms of a three-year contract with the Arizona
Cardinals.
The 5–9, 196-pound Penn State product was the Colts’ third-round
selection in the 2000 NFL Draft. The Newport News, Virginia
native was a season-long starter in 2002–03, a span that included
27 consecutive starts. Last season, he returned to the starting
lineup over the final four regular-season games and three
postseason outings. He enjoyed excelled during the postseason,
posting 2 interceptions, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 forced fumble, 1
deflected pass, and 14 total tackles (9 solos) against Denver,
Kansas City, and New England.
In his four-year career, the 25-year-old Macklin owns 190 total
tackles (141 solos), 43 deflected passes, 7 interceptions, 2
forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery. He also has appeared in
five playoff games, logging 17 total tackles (12 solos), 2
interceptions, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, and 2 passes
defensed.
The versatile athlete, who also played basketball at Penn State,
was a two-year football starter for the Nittany Lions. He tied
for the Big Ten Conference lead with six interceptions as a
junior.
