What do you guys think of CB Tim Jennings who got cut from the Bears?

He's undersized at 5'8 & 185 lbs, but he made consecutive Pro-Bowls in 2012 & 2013 (alternate for R. Sherman). He had 9 INTs in 2012 with 21 passes defensed & in 2013 had 4 INTs with 13 passes defensed.

He had a down year in 2014 with no INTs and only 7 passes defensed... anyone know the story behind this? Injury? Benched in favor of a rookie? Moved to a new role? Play dropped off significantly at age 30?

Is he worth taking a look at for the 4th CB spot even though he's undersized?

Bears CB Tim Jennings was arrested on charges of DUI, reckless driving, and speeding in Gwinnett County, Ga.
It's Jennings' first run-in with the law since entering the league in 2006. Jennings may be subject to discipline via the league's personal-conduct and substance-abuse policies. He started all 16 games this past season and graded out as an average cover corner at Pro Football Focus. However, Jennings was strong in run support. He has three years left on his contract.

I also read that he was cut because he's more of a zone coverage corner & the Bears are switching to more man coverage... so he wouldn't fit our scheme anyways.

Not positive, but didn't he tear his knee up last year?

We don't need a 5"8" CB! WRs are just too tall and fast now days. So one-on-one is out of the question. Just zone coverage doesn't cut it.

Cut from two teams...after a pro bowl year...
resting on his past performance????
IDK...but our secondary isn't our issue. O line and pass rush need to lead the way now for areas of help.

4th CB is an issue. I know Tyrann can & will play some nickel corner, but after PP, Powers & Bethel (who's done nothing at CB in real games) there's no one with any experience in the NFL. Powers struggled at outside CB 2 years ago, which is why we brought in Cromartie & moved Powers to nickel CB (where he played very well).

Let's say PP goes down for a few games... Tyrann moves to CB, Bucannon is playing ILB, Jefferson & R. Johnson are starting safeties... who gives them a breather when they need one that you can count on? Cariel Brooks? Jimmy Legree? CJ Roberts? Chris Clemons? Quartey? None of these guys are even locks to make the team.

Tim Jennings isn't the answer, but I hope they bring in someone who's proven they can handle playing in the NFL. A veteran former pro-bowler who's being cut for financial reasons & has a chance of clearing waivers & could be signed for a 1 year prove-it deal... that sounds exactly like what Keim is looking for.
