things are starting to firm up for round 1 now that most of the pro days are done. Here we go.

1.DET-Matt Stafford QB, the trendy thing is to now project Jason Smith here.I don't see it. With all the money involved with the #1 overall pick, you spend it on the potential face of the team,a QB.

2.STL-Jason Smith OT, he projects as a better run blocker than Monroe so that gives him the edge. They are definitely going OT with this pick.

3.KC-Aaron Curry LB, this pick should take about 8 seconds to make. The Chiefs get the best prospect to fall right in their lap. Let's hope Clancy can use him right.

4.SEA-Eugene Monroe OT, I like Casserly's choice of Wells, and he may be the pick if both Monroe and Smith are gone, but Monroe is too good to pass up here. Jones had microfracture surgery and is in his mid 30's.

5.CLE-Brian Orakpo DE/OLB, The Browns only had 17 sacks last year. They need a pass rusher and Orakpo's the best of the bunch.

6.CIN-Andre Smith OT, The Bengals get the best OT in the draft. Plus his off field behavior fits in perfectly with the Bengals modus operandi.

7.OAK-Percy Harvin WR, There's always a twist,or two, in the draft and Al Davis is as good a candidate as anyone to cause it. Harvin is the most dynamic player in the draft and Davis loves those type of playmakers.

8.JAX-Mark Sanchez QB,David Garrard had a dismal year and isn't a long term answer. Del Rio goes to his USC roots and plucks who i think is the best QB in the draft.

9.GB-BJ Raji DT,He's a perfect NT for GB's switch to the 3-4. This should be another pick that takes about 8 seconds to complete.

10.SF-Michael Crabtree WR, quickly, name SF's starting WR's. Case closed. The Niners get a steal at #10.

11.BUFF-Aaron Maybin DE/OLB, The Bills desperately need a pass rush. Maybin is young but he has the potential to,down the road, be the best pass rusher in the draft.

12.DEN-Rey Maualuga LB, The Broncos need a tackling machine in the Al Wilson mode. Rey Rey is bigger and better than Wilson.

13.WAS-Brian Cushing LB, I hear Dan Snyder has watched all of Cushing's path to the draft episodes :D so he'll be the pick. This is probably the hardest pick to project in round 1. They could take anybody.

14.NO-Malcolm Jenkins CB, This seems like a no-brainer pick. The Saints need DB's and Jenkins is the best one in the draft. This pick takes all of 10 seconds to make.

15.HOU-Everette Brown DE/OLB, He's probably the highest ranked defensive player left on the board. He's not a need pick but he could team with Smith to create a pass rush force on the opposite side of Williams.

16.SD-Tyson Jackson DE, He steps in to fill the void left by the depature of Olshansky. I think he's a bit overrated but he's projected to go somewhere in the area.

17.NYJ-Chris Wells RB, Ryan is going to pattern his team after his Ravens squads. I'm sure he liked having the pounding running styles of McClain and Jamaal Lewis giving his defense plenty of time to rest. Wells will be that type of RB.

18.CHI-Jeremy Maclin WR, Should be anothe fast selection. He's as talented as any WR in the draft and fills a major need for the Bears.

19.TB-Michael Johnson DE/OLB, he's too good an athlete to pass up. They say when he plays he's alot like Julius Peppers. His knock is he only plays about every other play. Well, Julius Peppers only plays about every other play and he's getting 16 mill+ this year with a franchise tag.

20.DET-Eben Britton OT, Britton isn't a mauler but he projects well in OC Linehan's zone blocking scheme. They have to address the OL with this pick.

21-PHI-Michael Oher OT, Andy Reid has to be loving that Oher has dropped to him. They need to get younger on the OL and Oher could start from day 1.

22.MINN-Vontae Davis CB, He's the most athletically gifted CB in the draft in the mode of DRC. He'll be a nice nickel back this year while being groomed to replace Winfield.

23.NE-Clay Matthews OLB, The Pats continue to refortify their LB corps with Mayo inside last year and pass rusher Mathews outside this year. Belichick may have coached his dad in Cleveland.

24.ATL-James Laurinitis LB, He can take the place of Keith Brooking. Atlanta is tempted to take Pettigrew but their defense need alot of help behind the DL.

25.MIA-Connor Barwin DE/OLB, Parcells always seems to take pass rushing DE/OLB types in the first round. Barwin fits the mold of players Parcells likes.I think he's reach at this point.

26.BAL-Kenny Britt WR, the Ravens are constantly searching for a viable WR. Britt is probably the safest pick amongst WR's left on the board.

27.IND-Peria Jerry DT,Almost every publication i have seen has Jerry, if available, going to Indy with this pick. They can't all be wrong can they? He does fit their scheme perfectly.

28.PHI-Donald Brown RB, alot of people think Reid won't take a skill player in round 1 and if they do it will be Moreno. Brown may offer Reid a better alternative and seems,to me, to more fit Reid's style of RB.

29.NYG-Darius Heyward-Bey, i almost had Oakland take him at 7. If he's there, i think, without a doubt, he's the Giants pick. He'll be a good guy for Plaxico to watch from his cell on Sunday afternoons.

30.Tenn-Robert Ayers DE,They could easily go CB here but Ayers stock has shot up the board and he'd be a nice guy to plug into the lineup when KVB goes down with his yearly injuries.

31.ARI-Knowshon Moreno RB, who would have thought the Cards would be sitting at 31 with their choice of Moreno, Pettigrew, English, Alphonso Smith, Alex Mack, or Darius Butler? I would be happy with any of them as the pick here. I'll go with Moreno, who is probably the highest rated player left on the Cards board.

32.PITT-William Beatty OT, They just lost Marvel Smith to SF and need to upgrade their OL. Mack or Unger could easily be the pick here as well.

the rest of the Cards picks:

round 2-Jarron Gilbert DE, the Cards need some players at DE for the 3-4. Gilbert is super athletic and would be a nice rotation guy with Iwebema, CC, and Dockett.

round 3-Tyrone McKenzie OLB,The Cards continue to get younger and upgrade the front 7 on defense. McKenzie can be a guy to take over for Chike after this year.

round 4-Cornelius Ingram TE, Whiz says TE is an area of need even though there is about 8 on the roster. Ingram is coming off a year missed due to injuries but looked good on his pro day. Ingram would have to check out medically.

round 5-Jason Williams OLB, He played at tiny Western Illinois but was very productive. He has nice size at 244 and great speed according to his pro day. Could be a good sleeper pick.

round 6-Kory Sheets RB, He's generally a 5-6 round projection so he may be gone. He would be a nice 3rd down/KR option. Devin Moore and Ian Johnson are also candidates.

round 7a- Nader Abdallah DT, came on very strong his senior year and has continued in the post season. Probably went from UDFA to a viable draftee. Still, he's only done it for about 1/2 a year.

round 7b- Everett Pendescleaux NT, a propsect that the coaching staff seems to like alot. I seem him generally as an UDFA prospect so the Cards nab him here.

Your picks all make sense. It seems to me that round 1 is where tackles and WRs get stretched for... last year, almost no WRs went early, and most of the WRs that came out didn't have a huge impact... I think that means more WR hunger this year. Especially, with a decent crop of them. I could see a couple more going than you project... but I can't argue too much with most of your picks.

I dont think Oher lasts until 21 and I don't think Smith goes 6th. Of course, I'm basing that on the Bengals learning from their mistakes... so he probably does go 6th.

I would love it if we could get Ingram in the 4th.

Nader would be a great energy and depth guy if he makes the team, I wouldn't mind a seventh on him or even waiting and picking him up as a UDFA.

round 2-Jarron Gilbert DE, the Cards need some players at DE for the 3-4. Gilbert is super athletic and would be a nice rotation guy with Iwebema, CC, and Dockett.

Per Mike Mayoch, Gilbert is an athlete whose game tape does not match the measurables. Perhaps this a bit high to take a flyer on this guy.

round 4-Cornelius Ingram TE, Whiz says TE is an area of need even though there is about 8 on the roster. Ingram is coming off a year missed due to injuries but looked good on his pro day. Ingram would have to check out medically.

According to the NFL Network gurus, Ingram would have been the no. 1 or 2 - TE off the board, if not for missed time. They indicated that he tested very well, and medically will make the grade. Doubtful, according to them, that he'd be available in the 4th.

I think Ingram gets taken in the first two rounds IMO. One of the fastest risers now that he has shown to be completely healthy.

Dont see how Tyrone McKenzie fits in as a 3-4 OLB. Doesnt have anywhere close to the pass rush skill to play 3-4 OLB. Now 3-4 ILB he would have great potential at with his coverage ability and sideline to sideline game speed.

Dont think OT is nearly the slam dunk of a pick for he Rams as some people like to say it is. It might ulitmatly happen but not slam dunk. The Rams WR core have a combined 77 career receptions. By far the worst recieving core in the league and it isnt even close. There current #1 WR was their #5 WR in 2008. Crabtree is very much a real possibility for that #2 spot IMO.

I like the change-up of putting Harvin in the top 10 and the Raiders would exactly be the team to do it.

I think the Saints going D is not a no-brainer. It can still happen but they signed two DB free agents and released Duece McAllister. They know Bush isnt a full time starter and Moreno or another RB is a very real possibility IMO.

How do you feel that Donald Brown is a better fit for what Reid looks for at running back? Moreno is by far the better reciever out of the backfield and just as good of a pass blocker thats what Reid looks for in a RB the most.

May not agree with where you think we can get some of our picks but I would love the draft if it turned out that way.

If the Raider are so intrigued by speed they would go with the bigger and equally as productive Macklin IMO.

I don't see how a guy lke Spagnulo doesn't think going for a top tackle is the way to go. They released Pace and Barron isn't exactly a stud. Unless they don't like Monroe as much as Smith - but then I don't think they will go after Crabtree - they will go after Curry IMO.

It scares me to think you are right about N.O. - I know Payton has made it a priority to get a big back but with Bush and the fact that they like Thomas I see them going the Shonn Green route in round 2. Maybe thats wishful thinking.

I have no idea if the Eagles go back who they get. My guess is Well with the way he ran but Moreno has been healthier and they likely don't want a Westbrook redeux in terms of injuries.
