Baylor Scheierman showcased his undoubted upside during the Boston Celtics' March 18 win over the Brooklyn Nets. The Creighton product exploded for a career-high 20 points, as he made the most of his additional playing time. Joe Mazzulla had turned to the rookie due to both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown missing the game through injury.

During his postgame news conference, Kristaps Porzingis praised Scheierman's performance. The championship-winning center noted how Scheierman is growing more comfortable at the NBA level, noting how that comfortability shone through against Brooklyn.

“I would say with each game, he’s getting more and more comfortable, and today, you could tell,” Porzingis said. “After each 3, his confidence just kept on going. Transition, pump-fake 3, side-step, hit another 3. Like, he was just rolling, and his confidence was sky-high and feeling good. Those kinds of moments are always special to watch, especially to have a game like that at home, in front of our crowd. This kind of game, I think, will stay in his memory for his whole career.”

Scheierman has played in 19 games for the Celtics this season. He's spent most of the season with the Maine Celtics, working on his overall game and becoming accustomed to life as a professional. Still, earning praise from Porzingis will undoubtedly do wonders for Scheierman's ever-growing confidence.
