Unpopular, but I’d double down on EDGE, especially if we get a 2nd back after trading Hop.

Will Anderson & Will McDonald is enticing. Cam Thomas gets moved inside & I don’t think Myjai will ever be a full-time starter.
Will Anderson and Mazi Smith is an interesting start to accomplish this.

EDIT: Especially if Allen is re-signed.

UGA star Jalen Carter present at scene of fatal crash

Snippet:

"At first, Jalen Carter told the police he was nearly a mile away when a University of Georgia teammate and a football staff member died in a car crash.

Later, Carter said he had been following the car when it wrecked, close enough to see its taillights.

And, at one point, he acknowledged he was alongside the other car, whose speedometer stuck on impact at 83 mph — double the speed limit.

Carter, a defensive star for Georgia who is projected as a top pick in this year’s NFL draft, left the crash scene, apparently before the police or emergency medical workers arrived. When he returned an hour and a half later, he gave shifting accounts of the wreck as an Athens police officer questioned him about whether he had been racing the car that crashed, according to documents reviewed by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Carter denied he was racing before the Jan. 15 crash, which killed recruiting analyst Chandler LeCroy, 24, and offensive lineman Devin Willock, 20. Another recruiting staff member, Tory Bowles, 26, and offensive lineman Warren McClendon, 21, were injured.

Carter’s presence at the moment of the crash, previously unreported, alters the narrative that Athens police officials offered publicly from the beginning. It was, officials said, simply a single-car accident, caused by LeCroy’s driving too fast.

But the police had reason to suspect almost from the moment of the crash that other cars had been at the scene, and they soon learned at least two of those vehicles were driven by Georgia football players. Seeking evidence of possible racing, officers have obtained surveillance video from city-owned cameras along the route the players took out of downtown Athens. They also obtained footage from at least one business owner. The police have declined to release these videos, saying they are evidence in an open case."

This happened about a week after the national championship game. Presumably will hurt his draft stock.

not that unpopular. The best way to improve your secondary is to hit the quarterback.
remember our HC just came from a situation where he credited front 4 pressure with his defenses success... I imagine he will want to replicate that here.

Ivan Pace's measurables and Ivan Pace's film might be the biggest discrepancy with any player I've ever seen.

One should not equal the other.

I wonder if what Andre Carter's stock will be around draft. Has been injured and numbers really dropped from last year but he definitely has potential along with size and athleticism. Usually service academy athletes could apply for waivers to delay service commitments to play professionally immediately after graduation but there is a new bill going to be passed by Congress that will no longer allow delayed service so athletes would have to serve commitment before playing professionally. So will a team take him early and just wait for him or will he drop? ARZ has too many needs to fill immediately but if Carter drops past 3rd round I would definitely take him in 4th round and wait for him.
Have been hearing buzz on him lately, as a possible 1st rounder now. Could he be a good target, if Cards trade down?

Odd. I've been thinking the opposite.

I think he's fallen. He had a poor senior bowl and he's down to EDGE12 and 3rd round on the Mock Draft Database.

Carter also got overpowered early in the week in Mobile, but so did everywhere else that went against Ohio State’s Dawand Jones. He eventually settled in, with his burst starting to flash at the end of the week. Carter said he’ll focus on maintaining weight ahead of the next level, aiming for a playing base of 270 or 275 pounds.

More Senior Bowl...this one shows him dropping from 1st to 2nd round: https://www.turfshowtimes.com/2023/2/4/23586120/2023-senior-bowl-winners-losers-john-michael-schmitz

EDGE Andre Carter, Army West Point

For all of the potential first round hype that he had coming into the Senior Bowl, Andre Carter didn’t stand out very often and was contained by a lot of the tackles in Mobile. It’ll be interesting to see how he fares during the rest of the draft process, but he may have slid into the second round after his week at the Senior Bowl.

Seems like a team that trades down and stockpiles picks can afford to get this guy a tad early, because the measurables are incredible.

I think a couple of months ago he was expected to go early to mid round 2. I feel he's not more late round 2 to early 3.

I thought he looked weak in Mobile. I thought he looked outclassed by the better brand of opponents.

I wanted to get some athletic scores on Foskey and I have to say he didn't disappoint. What do you think about him in your two EDGE concept?

I like Foskey better than both of those players.

He certainly blew up the Combine. He had some outstanding games this year. However, he not a great student of leverage and got handled occasionally by lesser athletes. I didn’t like his reaction time. He should still develop into an effective rusher, but likely not an immediate every down starter.

I'd much rather a player had to learn leverage and get off than hand use or pass rush moves though. If those are Foskey's biggest concerns that's a big plus for me.

Thank you @Harry and @DVontel for your thoughts. I appreciate the differing view that you both can offer regarding my opinion on players. I don't feel either of these critiques are off basis.

So based on those, Derick Hall over Foskey as an EDGE prospect.
