Yes, I know that Gambo and Ash are basically saying that the ESPN guys are all full of it. However, I thought it was interesting what Chad Ford was saying now.

He is basically stating on SportCenter that Minny has brokered two different deals with Atlanta involving Stoudamire or Marion. Atlanta is willing to give the 3 and 11 up for Amare and KG would go to PHX. I didn't catch any mention of the Marion version of a deal.

He also is basically stating that the reason 2 deals for either player have been brokered is so that the Suns don't burn any bridges with any particular player.

WTF???? I think I am leaning with Gambo and Ash here that these guys have no freaking clue what they are talking about.

We balked at giving Amare to Minnesota for KG. Now we are going to give Amare to Atlanta for KG? Not to mention killing our Atlanta 08 pick. Why don't we just include the Atlanta 08 as well as Barbs while we are at it? It just doesn't make sense. The # 7 would have to come our way.

They are manufacturing news without any real basis.

Yea because we know ESPN would NEVER do that. ;)

That's what I have been saying. There are multiple reports coming out of ESPN and none of them match up. How can anybody consider ESPN a valid source at this point?????

The Atlanta trade makes no sense. If the Suns wouldn't pull the trigger in a Amare for KG swap then there is no reason to trade him at all. We need draft day to come. PLEASE!!!!!!!

Why the hell is Minnesota, the team with no leverage, trying to put us in the ropes and take the deals they want to make?

I think Minnesota would like to rebuild there team with picks and thus save money. Not a bad idea in a deep draft. Or perhaps Amare wants to go to Atlanta like JJ (like some rumors say) although I do not buy it yet.

I'm with you about wishing draft day would come. I think by brain has been picked like a chicken bone. I no longer find it fun but very stressful. I'm thinking about wrapping today up early to save my sanity.

I would bet my left nut that Gambo's source only tells him what the organization wants him to tell the general public. He's probably stupid enough to think he's getting the inside scoop also. I'm not saying that these national guys have reliable sources in the Phoenix Suns, but they probably do have sources all over the place whereas Gambo does not.

I'm sure that if/when no deal goes down or at least Amare is still here, many of you will believe he was completely off the table. I don't believe that. I just think the price for him is going to be extremely high. It should be. Since the playoffs I know that I would not be happy with a straight up trade of Amare for KG.

If the Phoenix Suns had no conscience when it came to spending I might change my mind. However, while I don't think sarver is nearly as cheap as he has been made out to be he won't throw money around like New York, Dallas, and a few others. I worry that if he signed off on a KG deal That sent Amare Stoudemire somewhere else he would not keep Kurt Thomas and wouldn't pay for someone to replace him.

I don't think the odds are great that either Shawn Marion or Amare Stoudemire will be moved or that KG is coming to Phoenix by tomorrow night, but I definitely believe that all of those things have been discussed at least somewhat seriously.

The ESPN rumors report Phoenix wants Minnesota to take the point (presumably Garnett would leverage such trades by not extending) and let them work out a three team trade with Atlanta and offer it to Phoenix where Phoenix gets Garnett. Apparently Phoenix does not want to be the fall guy if the deal for Amare does not work out.

What part of "We are not moving Amare" is so hard to understand?

Let's face it, the NBA is ultimately about selling tickets. As big a deal as KG is, trading your franchise player for a vastly more expensive guy would be an absolute PR disaster and not even necessarily going to produce better results. But even if it did, I'd guess 99% of the local Suns fans would be VIOLENTLY opposed.

Moving Marion would be controversial. Moving Amare would be an absolute PR disaster of Biblical proportions. Kerr is very inexpereinced, but I cannot believe he'd be that stupid.

Have you seen any of the Phoenix Suns administration say, "we are not moving Amare?"

I honestly can't figure out why some of you guys are so sure that he is completely off the table.

It's true...a deal was very close to being done to ship Amare to Atlanta as part of a three way deal to net the Suns Kevin Garnett.

The conversations went like this...

Minny: "Hey Atlanta...would you give us the numbers 3 and 11 picks if the Suns gave you Marion?"

Atlanta: "No".

Minny: "Would you do it if the Suns gave you Amare?"

Atlanta: "Hell yes".

Minny: "Wow...we're real close. All we have to do is get the Suns to OK the deal."

Minny: "Hey Kerr...would you do the deal if Atlanta takes Amare?"

Kerr: "No".

ESPN: "They were very close to a deal involving..."

Good , I think at this point if I had to chose between watching more Amare in a Suns uniform or selling him just to win one championship, lets say we would be guaranteed one, I'd still take Amare. Screw the guaranteed championship it would be much sweeter to win one with Amare for me.
There is just something about Amare that makes me enjoy Suns games a lot more. The year he was injured the Suns simply didn't have "it" that made me excited to watch all the games.

Marion on the other hand, we had him long enough and he definately doesn't have "it".

Completely is an overstatement, but Coro's articles were pretty emphatic that Suns were saying it is very unlikely Amare would be traded.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-suns062207&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

Phoenix will likely continue swapping proposals around Shawn Marion and draft picks until Thursday's draft, but league sources say that Stoudemire isn't untouchable when it comes to Garnett. Nevertheless, it would take some financial wizardry in the Suns' front office to spare K.G.'s 15 percent trade kicker from compounding their luxury tax problems. Kerr's mandate isn't to take on more payroll, but thin it.

Stoudemire (24) is seven years younger than Garnett and fresh off a first-team All-NBA season. It would take an overwhelming offer to part with him, but that probably isn't as true with Marion. His name has popped up in several scenarios, including the Celtics. It's improbable that the Suns would move Marion, but it's a far less painful scenario than dealing Stoudemire. Marion will make $16.4 million and $17.1 million in the final two years of his contract but, like Garnett, can opt out in the summer of 2008.

I'm not sure if this post is serious, but from what Hawks fans are hearing it sounds like this is what actually happened.

I take the title any day of the week and twice on Sundays. I don't root for the player - I root for the home team.

Well, nobody is off the table anytime anywhere, if that's what you are saying.

I'd move Nash for Kobe in an heart beat!:p

And Amare for KG straightup is a guarantee that Suns will NOT win a title anytime soon!

Since there are no guarantees, I don't make the deal with STAT involved. Amare is on a dedicated mission to get better and better and I wouldn't be surprised to see his performance equal or exceed that of KG's next year anyway.

The only player I can think of that I would trade Amare for is Tim Duncan.

Not that I want it to happen but I just heard Steven A Smith said that if he was the Hawks he would package #3 & 11 for Amare, he also said Amare would be a beast along side JJ.

What if ATL would offer Josh Smith & 3 & 11 for Stat?

We could get Horford at 3 and either Acie Law or Javarious Crittedon at 11 plus Josh Smith

Horford/KT
Smith/Diaw
Marion/Hill/JJ
Bell/Barbosa
Nash/Law or Crittedon

#24 - Marco Bellenelli
#29 - Nick Fazeckas

Kerr told ESPN that Amare isn't being traded

Actually, I believe he said that Amare Stoudemire is not being traded to Atlanta, and this comes after the Phoenix Suns would have known that the deal was dead because of Atlanta's ownership situation.

Again, I'm not saying Amare Stoudemire is being actively shopped. That's not what I'm saying at all. I just don't believe that they are telling every team that he is off the table.

I agree that after repeated failure and the fact that Nash turned 33, the Suns need an immediate rebuilding with younger talents.:biglaugh:

That's certainly true, but when teams hear the price they figure he might as well be.

Well, if Kerr wants to play the game of manipulated misinformation, that's the way.

Again, nobody is untouchable, as long as the price is right. Do we have the information of Kerr's idea of the right price for Amare?
