mes (NYC): Any chance of a Joe Johnson for Eddy Curry deal happening?

Chad Ford: (1:13 PM ET ) I doubt it. The Bulls are shopping Curry and the Suns do have interest. But they love Johnson and think he's a great fit with the current make-up of the team. I believe that the Grizzlies have the best shot at getting something done.

:bhiich:

Eddy Curry's value is at an all-time low probably which makes the Bulls look pretty stupid to finally trade him now.

If the Suns can get Curry with giving up just Voskuhl (worst of their big man anyway), Jacobsen ( minutes can be replaced easy) and Zarko (can't prove yourself on the IL anyway), the Suns become a much better team than what they are right now.

I think the Suns would be fools to make any trade right now. The current team is good, let them play. :D

Considering that Joe Johnson is FA and that he is probably going to demand considerably more bucks than Quentin Richardson I think he can be had if the price is right. I think JJ is a little overrated right now anyway and his trade value is at an all-time high.

Of course Chicago would have to throw in more to get JJ like taking away all protections on their pick.

It's definately easier to replace JJ with the Chicago pick than finding a center.

I don't think the Suns will deal anyone in the top 9 of their rotation however unless they start losing more games.

I wouldn't miss Jacobsen, Voskuhl and Zarko though.

Not that Denver is really willing to give up Nene right now, but I would take him over Eddy Curry any day of the week. I have no interest in Curry unless it is for a pretty lame package that Chicago would never accept. I am 100% confident that the Phoenix Suns have no interest in him either.

I'm sure that Phoenix is only mentioned by Chad Ford because everybody knows they have always needed a quality center. Unfortunately Eddy Curry is not that person.

When time comes, I could imagine Q, Barbosa, Jake, Chicago's pick for Curry, Gordon, and fillers trade. Gordon could excell sharing back court with JJ and Nash.

The Suns aren't trading Q anytime soon. They just signed him and you don't trade signed FAs so soon. You just don't.

You treat guys who pass up more money from other teams to sign with you like rock stars. If you don't how many free agents do you think will be signing here in the future?

Now if Q crashed his car drunk into a church or something you might get away with it.

IMO Nene has more potential than Curry. Barbosa might be a really good influence on Nene too.

I agree. I said yesterday that the Phoenix Suns cannot trade Richardson anytime soon. That said, were other teams really lining up to give Q more money.

:barf:

In other words, if the Bulls ever screw up on a high draft pick again, they don't have to worry, because they can always trade him to the Suns for legitimate players.

No thank you.

Even if the Suns could trade Q it would be a PR disaster.

Why did they sign him in the first place?
Why would any free agent ever sign with the Suns again?
Why would any player on the current roster trust the management not to trade them right after they sign?

You build a good organization by treating your players with respect, especially players that work their butt off for you. The Suns have always been pretty consistant with this and that is why their organization has a good rep.

I predict Shawn Marion will be the first to go among our 3 swingman.

He will make too much money for what he is worth to the Suns.

Gordon will be a bust too.

I don't care how good he is 6'3" shooting guards have little value in the NBA. Q was scoring on him at will.

Now if he learns the point he might have a chance but he seems like a 2 guard to me.

But who would the Suns get that would contribute more than Marion?

He is a PG and they play him at SG. I doubt he is taller than 6'1 really.

Well someone needs to tell the Bulls that their experiment is a failure.

Shawn really isn't much of a swingman anyway. He doesn't play 2 guard well. He's defenitely a 3.

What's better keeping Marion at 13M$ a season or keeping JJ at 7-8M$ a season?

I take JJ everyday. He is a much more complete player than Marion.

The Suns might just trade Marion for cap relief eventually and a center prospect or something like that.

I predict Marion will be traded next offseason for contracts that expire before Amare's extension would kick in and a center possibly sign and trade with maybe a guy like Kwame Brown, Tyson Chandler, Eddy Curry, Samuel Dalembert.

I disagree. I wouldn't be opposed to trading shawn for a good big man. I agree that JJ can move into his spot easyenough but I think Shawn earns his money. Its not like he signed and all of a sudden started to suck.

I think he's playing as well as anybody ever thought he would.

Paxson said on Chicago Sports Radio that Curry doesn't have much value and less after the quotes in the papers today.

If they took Jacobsen, Zarko and Voskuhl. That would be terrific for the Suns regardless what you think of Curry there is no way he will do less for the Suns than those 3 who don't fit in or are stuck behind too many talented players.

Suffered a right knee sprain during Thursday's practice, forcing him to leave early to be evaluated by a team doctor.

An update on his playing status will be available following Friday's practice at the Berto Center.

Friday's practice will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Berto Center.

On ESPN radio they were talking about how his agent told the Bulls he would sit out with his knee until they trade him.

While Curry's value is at an all-time low, it's still higher than Voskuhl, Jacobsen, and Zarko, three below average bench players. Hell, Chicago would probably take Bonzi Wells for Curry than add this group of worthlessness. Chicago is going to want draft picks, some other teams unfulfilled high-reward talent before they ask for these guys.

I basically agree with you here. Cabarkapa wipes out most of the positive trade value that Jake Voskuhl and Casey Jacobsen have.

I wish we could see Cabarkapa in a farm league until he gets his confidence back and some pounds on.

IMO if the Trade package was Voskuhl, Jacobsen, and Cabarkapa the Suns wouldn't really need the Lottery Pick - I'd throw it in to the team that wants it most (Bulls, their own). With Curry on roster and for that Trade package, Suns no longer need a Center with Curry, Hunter, and Lampe on roster; with Richardson, Barbosa, and Tabuse, how many swings/points do the Suns need off bench... I didn't see Milos Vujanic in offer, so he could join roster if something happens during course of season.
