Round 4 or so: take him in a heartbeat

It's not just the big arm, it's the quick release and accuracy both from the pocket and on the move. Throws with anticipation --

Super competitive-- manifests itself in both good and bad ways. Absolutely needs to mature, then again, so did I at age 22

I think the Cards are an ideal situation for a guy like him : around level headed guys like Palmer, Stanton, Fitz, DJ etc.

But you can fix immature and an example is likely playing left tackle for the Cards next year.

What about immature at QB? I think Kelly is a good risk in the right round but he would have to mature pretty quickly to be a starting NFL QB.

It amazes me how people make excuse for prospects at QB. QB is the one position I flat out won't make any exceptions when it comes to character especially coming into the league.

By all accounts this guy is a flat out knuckle head and make no mistake were not talking about a Manning, Luck or Newton situation where he is a generational talent he had an alright career but nothing crazy.

QB is the face of your franchise

Please tell me that you didn't lump Scam Newton in with Luck and Manning?

So you pass on Brett Favre? How about Dan Marino?

Because Cam Newton was a freak talent. Kelly is not on that level of talent where you can look. The fact you call him Scam Newton tells me you just don't like him no matter how good he is/was in school

Ok great in 35 years that's two I'll even give you Big Ben, now name the 100 QBs with questionable charecter that have failed here I'll start Jamarcus Russell, Matt Leinart.... We really need to keep going?

I think QB more than any other position you need to be right between the ears.

The post I responded to was about good character; not athletic ability. Clearly two very different things. There's no question that Scam is supremely talented. For me, it's that he's a knucklehead on the field and has no business being compared with the likes of Luck and/or Manning. When you show up to training camp in a Chosen 1 jersey after demonstrating no class in a Super Bowl loss, you're an asshat plain and simple!

And yes... until I see a demonstrable change in character on the field, I reserve the right to call him what he is - Scam.

Yeah he smiles and celebrates when he makes a big play what a clown.
