Casserly had to hear what he did from somebody.I doubt he made it up.Like others said it could be a smokescreen to lower Murrays draft value or it could be factual. If there is any doubt about Murrays leadership, character, poise, work ethic etc; all these questions need to answered to the teams satisfaction.Big Red flags in my opinion until the issue is resolved.
That was, indeed, a weird move by Casserly -
He has too solid a reputation to blow it all on a scurrilous story.
And what's he gain by publicizing the story at all? This story has the aroma of another team's PR dept "quacking like a duck." (Perhaps they're feeding off the Cardinal mgt's reputation for being easy to roll).
Possibilities:
- He was helping out a friend
- He got pressured by NFLNet to "come up with something controversial."
- He's obtaining payback over getting screwed by the player or his agent
- Story is legit and corroborated.
- His source is getting payback etc etc
- Card smokescreen
- Another team picking in the top 5 wants to outcompete ARZ for Murray's services and is trying to devalue Kyler's worth.
I have 2 dislikes -
1. Teams that do wacky things that upset the status quo.
2. Teams that don't take chances.
I tend to favor an approach that's somewhere in-between.
