Marion had 3 good assist games in the last month and 2 weeks. Nothing more , nothing he didn't do in the past.

In february Marion averaged only 2.3 apg. That's worse than his january and december months.

I suspect that they are putting more emphasis on having Marion get assists just as they are emphasizing Amare's passing. I have seen some progress in certain areas of the Suns game, but I also see more hesitation suggesting they have not really assimulated it yet.

The reality is that he Sun's forwards were not expected to get assists under the Frank Johnson/Stephon Marbury offense. Now there is a lot more of a push, but they have a long way to go.

I actually think the bigger problem is that the Phoenix Suns as a team are not very good at moving themselves into good position to receive passes.

I see it as the nature of the FJ/Marbury offense. When Marbury drove to the basket, he would kick out to the guy whose man came to cover him. This meant that moving around reduced the chances of getting a pass.

I feel they need to reformulate the offense, but it is not easy to do in mid season.

The Bobcats aren't the only team in a position to absorb cap space. The Hawks and the Jazz are both more than $20 million under the cap next year. I have to think one of them would take a Jahidi/Cleveland pick/Casey Jacobsen/$3 million package (for, say, a 2nd round pick in 2010). Sure, cap room is nice, but for teams short on talent like the Hawks, giving up $5 million in cap space might be worth a decent young sg in Jacobsen and a mid-level first round pick.

And if we do get lucky in the lottery and have a chance to get an Okafor or Howard, I'd imagine Bryan would throw in Barbosa or Milos to sweeten the pot if he had to before giving up Okafor.

Why? We wouldn't be getting a point guard in return. There's no reason to give up one of our young ones like that.

I'm just saying if Charlotte or some other team we're trying to dump salary on won't bite w/ just Cleveland's pick, we'd be better off sweetening the pot w/ one of our young pg's than with Okafor, if we have a chance at him.

And, for this team, it might do us some good to get a veteran pg who can actually play instead of going w/ the young Milos/Barbosa combination. Don't get me wrong, I hope we're able to dump Jahidi w/ only Cleveland's pick (and I have a feeling we will), but if we have to give up additional assets to do it, we'd give up a young pg before we give up Okafor.

It doesn't work that way. The most the Suns can offer the Bobcats is $3 million and a draft pick. That's it. Perhaps they can promise a side deal, but it would not be enforceable.
