And @Chopper0080 is my guy, but I absolutely believe BTJ would be having a better season than Marv even if BTJ played in this same offense. Inconsistent QB, OC, run-oriented offense first & all. He just gets open easier.
Slight disagreement. I just don’t believe Petzing and Kyler can support a top WR. I do agree that BTJ accelerates better than MHJ.

I wasn't worried before but I'm starting to get there.

Had at least 2 tds (or at least PIs) if he went towards the ball. Instead he fades away from it and gets the passes broken up

Its concerning
This passing offense is awful in a lot of different ways. You shouldn’t be worried.

For example…vs a top 5 CB, Petzing did nothing to free up Marvin and just kept running him on 1 on 1 routes for 50/50 balls. That’s just not setting up your players to be successful.
The fact we're still unable to throw MHJ a screen pass tells me that Petzing doesn't have a real high opinion of MHJ's athleticism or strength.

Great first pass to get MHJ open and in space...then nada.

MHJ should be great enough to overcome OC and potentially QB. So its still on him some. However, not sure running it back with everyone (unless we make the playoffs/win a game?) is going to change much. I don't see them adding speed to stop the offense from feeling congested either.

Except that is not how it works. Low volume+low% routes+inconsistent QB is not something a rookie can “overcome “. It’s just math.

I disagree about Kyler. He had no problem getting Hopkins the ball and even though he's a TE in McBride.

Kyler limits how great a player can maybe be (Trey zero TDs) but he's not stopping All Pro players from being very productive. I think Hopkins was averaging almost 100 yards a game in the 2022 disaster year w/Kyler.

So some of it really is on MHJ. There is a lack of dog on these 50/50 balls and lack of demand to the QB/OC to get it.

Marv has dropped countless balls this year. But sure, pin his disappointing season on the QB

Hopkins was in a completely different offense, was already a pro bowl veteran WR, and part of a high volume passing offense. A completely different environment.

Marv took his first crosser for 23 yards. Was not targeted on that route again the entire game. That is a scheme and QB failure.
This we agree on

Strange that we don't run him in more crossing, stop and go, and out routes with KM rolling to that side

Not sure what Petzing is thinking at times

Nabers with a 10 catch outing today 82 yards and a TD playing with 3rd and 4th string QBs on a terrible team.
I had that game on. MHJ would have had a similar performance. Crossers, screens, and slants. A TD on a corner route to the pylon. I don’t think he had 1 back shoulder or fade.

And he was probably targeted 20 times. They keep feeding him the ball no matter what. Same cannot be said for MHJ. Half the time, it seems they use him as a decoy

petzing and murray and the refs didn't do mhj any favors today - but the toilet paper posse will hate away - he's not a streaker - he's a shaker and baker even if it's just one juke at the line - and these aren't even 50/50 balls kyler's been throwing him - they're more likely to hit the defenders head down the sideline because there's no back shoulder - just keep running down field marv - with a probowler holding you by the waist - and make sure you don't step out of bounds while kyler floats the throw

He is still a rookie

Looking for him to improve in the offseason knowing what is needed to exceed in the NFL
Yes and no. He will likely improve a bit in contested catches and likely ends up drawing more PI calls. I think he will have a tough time eclipsing 1000 yards with Petzing and Kyler. And TBF, I think a lot of WRs would struggle and most would pout more.
