it's not that nice...in fact Glendale Arena and UoP Stadium are much nicer. it is getting better with the diamond club, the removal of consession stands at the main atrium entry, new colors, etc. people don't pay to go see stadiums that are a decade old. they'll pay to see wrigley, fenway and yankee stadium because of the history.

I don't understand how people can say it's not nice but I guess everyone has their own unique opinion on the stadium. Sure it may not be absolutely perfect, but what stadium is? Fenway Park is classic and historical and probably the most special stadium in the MLB, but it's far from perfect. Tons of obstructed seats, aisles too tight, smaller seats, etc. I haven't been to a whole lot of stadiums but I'd say Chase is the best one I've been to. I've been to Wrigley, Riverfront Stadium (aka Cinergy Field), Great American Ballpark, Comiskey Park (before they remodeled), Old Busch Stadium and New Busch Stadium. Out of those that I have been to, Chase, New Busch, and Wrigley are the only one's I liked. Comiskey was very plain and Great American Ballpark is the same. Considering it was 1998 when I was in PHX, I've never been to Cardinals Stadium (didn't they take off the UofP?) or Jobbing.com Arena. They both look amazing on TV and I think they rank up there with some of the best. I've only seen the outside of US Airways Center, but it looked decent from the outside. I can tell it's pretty outdated compared to most new arenas, but I know they have added some of the modern type things like the LCD Boards on the facade and one of the new video boards over midcourt that is all digital. Overall, I think Phoenix has 4 very nice sporting venues. They all might not be perfect but they are very nice.

P.S. Thanks for the wallpaper HooverDam!

^In what ways are UofP and Jobbing.com better than Chase?

I also dislike that you never really feel outside (you feel even less outside at UofP)

UofP is better than Chase.. I feel like I could be outside at UofP with all the windows and all.. I like Chase and all but I prefer UofP..

Ive never been in Jobing.com yet so I cant really speak on it..

Also, and this is a problem at EVERY stadium in the Valley the concessions are pretty bland. Phoenix has a lot of unique foods, and some great Mexican food, why can't we get that into our ballparks?

That's because garbage chain Mexican restuarants like Macayo's or Garcia's has the sponsorship rights. The food and atmosphere are the biggest complaints for me as well, although I mostly just get a dog and peanuts. I never minded hot weather at games, it's mild enough here 90% of the time at night to get away with leaving the roof open and getting a breeze through the outfield. The atmosphere is night and day for me when the roof is closed and open but I also grew up at Dodger and Angel Stadium and then the Firebirds at Scottsdale Stadium so I'm probably not the best person to talk to on the subject.

Anyone have any recommendations on food at Chase? There used to be all sorts of random places at Angel Stadium that few knew about yet the food was the best.

On a side note - I've also noticed that for all the bickering about changing the name from BOB to Chase and how much animosity it caused, not one person has accidentally referred to the stadium by it's past name. I also can't remember the last time I heard someone refer to it as 'BOB' in a real-life situation as well.

The food is still better at Chase than at USAC or Glendale Arena. Its all pretty generic but still decent unlike a lot of the stuff at the other two places I named. A real Mexican place would be nice, but the Garcia's burritos aren't bad.

I almost referred to it as the BOB in my last post, but caught myself.. Even in my head I still call it BOB..

I agree w/ this 100%. When the roof is open I really enjoy myself a lot more. What is the rule on the roof- because I'd prefer it and the windows to be open if at game time the temp is less than 100. The roof is so huge and metal that it just seems depressing when its closed, this huge thing dominating you- UofP's cloth roof is much better.

Such a damn nice stadium.... No reason that place shouldn't sell out every night. Stupid Phoenix fair weather fans

It annoys me too, I remember talking Suns a few months ago with some guy (I'd say he was in his mid 20's) in Tucson and asked who he thought was better Thunder Dan or Steve Nash....he said "Who's Thunder Dan?"....I died a little bit then. It's almost annoying that the Suns are good, because the amount of bandwagon fans that "were always Suns fans, even before Steve Nash" Yeah right, and I crap gold.

Sorry to go offtopic.

I haven't seen a football game at UofPhoenix Stadium yet, but I did attend a travel show there.

Walked down to get to field level. Along the way everything was painted Battleship Gray. I expected to see brighter colors -- especially considering Cardinal Red.

If you go up instead of down, is it any better?

I really wish the red would have been more of a copper color, darker, and more red than the Giants orange, and with a hint of teal, in the border of the logo, I think it would have been really unique and sharp.

If you've seen it in person it looks NOTHING like the Giants orange, its clearly a dark brickish red. Its not the bright red of the Reds, its fairly dark. And red and teal would look pretty awful together IMO.

I wasn't comparing it to the giants orange, I was saying that I wished the color was more orange rather than red, but darker than the giants orange. More of a copper-orange color is what I thought we had originally been told. I was hoping that the colors would have been more similar to those of the Minnesota Wild, buy maybe more of an orange, and incorporating black or a dark dark gray. I don't feel as though the colors are unique at all, and remind me of the Astros. Oh well, I guess they are better than what we had before!

I agree, but there are bandwagoners/fair weather fans everywhere. Every city/team has it's share of true die-hard fans, fans who care and support the team when they can, and bandwagoners/fair weather fans who only support the team when they are winning. Kansas City is a great example. At one time, that was a pretty good baseball town. After years and years of losing and all of their good players gobbled up by larger market franchises, no one seems to care much anymore. I hardly ever see anyone with Royals gear on, but when I do, I know they are likely a true fan. In the mid-90's when the Mavs blew no one cared about them, no one showed up at their games, etc. Now since Cuban has taken over and built them a sweet new arena and a great team, now it seems like everyone in Dallas is a Mavs fan. Those are just some examples. There aren't too many teams except NFL teams (considering like every single game was sold out last year in the whole league) with a large number of true fans that will support the team even when they suck.

It's fun knowing I'm a true fan when my teams are winning and there are tons of bandwagoners out there. I think it's funny. I've gotten ripped on a couple of times for being a Cardinals fan by friends but it will be a fun day when they are good and all of the sudden you see "Cardinals Fans" everywhere.

In case anyone doesn't know, the Diamond Club is supposed to be a club-like atmosphere where you can go and party in addition to watching the game. There is a pretty good explanation of it in this article. The comments underneath it are pretty funny too.

Enjoy!
