Chelsea vs Legia Warsaw predictions, odds, betting tips and team news

Chelsea will be looking to secure their spot in the Europa Conference League semi-finals when they host Legia Warsaw at Stamford Bridge on Thursday 17th April at 8pm.

The Blues take a 3-0 lead into the second leg, sitting in a very comfortable position. This game will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 4.

Chelsea to win to nil (11/10 with Paddy Power)

On top of their clean sheet in Poland, Chelsea have won four of their last five home games across all competitions without conceding. The Blues are the clearly superior side, as evidenced by their first leg victory, and another comprehensive victory should be on the cards here. Chelsea have scored six goals in their last four games and look to be back to their old selves as they attempt and bring European glory back to Stamford Bridge.

Under 0.5 first half goals (3/1 with Sky Bet)

Chelsea haven’t scored in the first half of a match across all competitions since a 4-0 win over Southampton on 25th February. This quite remarkable run has seen them score 10 second half goals since they last netted in the first half.

Chelsea vs Legia Warsaw Odds

How both teams go into Chelsea vs Legia Warsaw

Chelsea are odds-on favourites to win the Europa Conference League and they flexed their muscles in the first leg of their quarter-final tie. The Blues remain perfect in the competition since the group stages, winning all nine of their matches. In the group stage, Chelsea scored the most goals and conceded the joint-fewest. They had to work for their spot in the quarter-finals, with a 3-1 aggregate victory over FC Copenhagen. And they had to wait until the second half for all there of their goals against Legia Warsaw.

Chelsea are right in the hunt for Champions League football in the Premier League, currently sitting in sixth position just two points behind fourth placed Newcastle, although they have played a game more. With the top five qualifying for Champions League football, Chelsea have a great chance of returning to Europe’s elite, although they’ll need to improve on results like their 2-2 draw with Ipswich at the weekend.

Legia Warsaw are on their deepest run in a European competition since 1995-96, when they reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League. They were in the Europa Conference League last season but fell in the knockout phase play-offs. Legia Warsaw skipped that round this time, thanks to a seventh-placed finish in the group stage. The Polish side won four and lost two of their six matches, boasting the joint-best defence in the group stage conceding five goals. But they’ve conceded six goals in three knockout stage matches, with three across their two legs against Molde before Chelsea put three past them.

Legia lost at the weekend, putting their chances of qualifying for Europe next season into major doubt. They now sit 11 points behind third placed Jagiellonia, the side that beat them at the weekend and it would take a big swing of results to see them back playing European football next season.

Chelsea team news

Romeo Lavia and Marc Guiu remain out for Chelsea, but should return before the end of the season. Wesley Fofana and Omari Kellyman are out for the rest of the campaign.

Legia Warsaw team news

Jan Leszczynski is a long-term absentee for Legia Warsaw, out for the rest of the season. Marc Gual and captain Bartos Kapustka are also injured. Jan Ziolowski and Artur Jedrzejczyk are both available after suspension.
