The Chicago Bears continue to make moves to bolster the roster around second-year quarterback Caleb Williams. After shoring up the offensive line, they've now added a mentor to the quarterback room.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Bears are signing veteran quarterback Case Keenum to a one-year deal worth up to $3 million.
Keenum, who's spent the last two seasons with the Houston Texans, will serve as a mentor for Williams, similar to what he did for C.J. Stroud in Houston.
Keenum has served as a journeyman quarterback throughout his career, which includes stops with the Texans (2023-24, 2014, 2012-13), Buffalo Bills (2022), Cleveland Browns (2020-21), Washington Redskins (2019), Denver Broncos (2018), Minnesota Vikings (2017) and Los Angeles Rams (2015-16, 2014).
With Keenum's signing, the Bears quarterback room now consists of Williams, Keenum, Tyson Bagent and Austin Reed. Keenum is expected to serve as Williams' primary backup.
