I had to drive to Tucson and back today so to pass the time I decided to dial in some Chicago sports radio to see what they are saying about the upcoming Cards/Bears game. I dialed in AM670 The Score on the radio app.

First of all they are super down on the Bears in Chicago. Pretty much everyone thinks of this as a "rebuilding year" for da Bears. THAT BEING SAID; they love their chances against the Cardinals because:

The cardinals are the worst team in the NFC West.

They expect a big day for Matt Forte because the Cardinals run D is not nearly as good as the Packers

Carson Palmer is just ok.

The Chicago DBs are not good but it's ok because the Cardinals don't have any good WRs except Fitz who is done.

The Cards will have no running game because Ellington is out.

Thoughts?

You sure this wasn't a take from the 2002 roster?

It's Chicago. The entire city lives in 1985 - down to the fashion sense.

I doubt if any of the sportswriters or broadcasters there have even seen a sporting event that didn't include a Chicago-based team.

Life in a microcosm.

But don't think we are any better. Just goes to show you how easy it is to manipulate people.

Makes me wonder about our own media.

That said, I think we make a short 3hr trip home 2-0.

While I feel pretty good about our chances of winning...

always BEWARE a desperate team...NO TEAM wants to start out the season 0-2. I like our chances not only because we're a talented team but we have developed a mental toughness under BA. We're gonna' play a tough-60 and then we'll see who's still standing at the end of the 4th quarter.

Anyone there with a brain...including my friends fromChicago here say 'the Bears suck'
No one and I mean no one would bet straight up taking the Bears over the cardinals.

That's actually why I tuned in! I was wondering the exact same thing. I was driving and listening to our radio guys (Gambo and Burns) talk about the Bears and I wondered what the guys on sports radio in Chicago were saying about the Cardinals.

I dont care, I didn't start the thread due to being offended, I just thought it was interesting.

Here is what my main point is really, and I should have put this in the original post:

I honestly think, that in the minds of the average football person around the country, we are still the 'same old Cardinals.' That was the total impression I got from listening to those guys today. The one guy even said; 'They should be able to compete with Arizona though and the other guy chimed in and was like; well, actually I think they have gotten a lot better... It wasn't like they were super disrespectful like oh Cardinals suck we're going to win. But you could tell that they really dont know much about us or pay attention. They had someone from the national media on to talk about the game and he told them we were 14-2 in Palmers last 16 games and they were both SHOCKED. They both said; "Really???"

It's like how SF Giants fans feel about Barry Bonds or NE Patriots Fans respond to deflate gate vs everyone else. If you are connected emotionally to the team, it affects how you feel about the team and makes it hard to be objective.

All I know about the Bears is what I heard from the pundits about how awful they are.

I expect we should beat them. My only concern is protecting Palmer. Our O-line worries me although it is reassuring to see Watford play well in game 1.
