Portland Oregon these days.
Arians thought he had the job after interviewing with the Bears -- who snubbed him to hire Trestman instead.

Now, with Arians coming to town with a 22 - 11 record, Chicago can't help but compare Trestman's record (13 - 20).

thank freaking GOD!

Watching what Arian's done with Palmer, Bears fans have to be livid thinking about what he could have done with Cutler.

So does this make us even with Chicago?

We got stuck with Dave McGinnis due to their incompetent ownership scaring him away from the Bears, and we won out on Arians due to the same incompetent front office. :)

The biggest break this franchise ever got was when Michael took over.

He has made mistakes but you really can't help but see the evolution of his ability to guide the franchise and hire good people.

The moves we make aren't perfect and aren't ever going to be but whatever limited success we had over many decades was always like a blind squirrel finding a nut. Now we at least have someone with a clue at the helm and it's odd but very refreshing.

Was anyone else listening to Gambo and Burns today? They were talking about this today. I only caught part of it because I was in and out of my car, but Gambo was saying that it was actually Cutler who nixed Arians and they were having a whole conversation about how it's dumb to have a player involved in hiring his own head coach... Something like that. I cant find anything about it on google and I dont know the whole story.

Remember the melt down some on the board had because we didn't hire Ray Horton? Ridiculousness.

I didn't know what to think of Arians right out of the gate but appears to be the right man for the job. He brings an air of confidence to this team without over the top arrogance.

Yes, I listened to them on my drive home yesterday. Very interesting. If true, probably the biggest blown pass of Cutler's career.

I keep trying to figure out why Pittsburgh ran him out of town. That is an organization known for their loyalty to players and coaches. Only thing I can come up with is they were concerned his reliance on the the down field long-ball passing game was getting Ben killed in the pocket, waiting for his receivers to go deep. Problem with that line of thinking is that Ben was furious that Pittsburgh let him go. Mind boggling.

I will say, with more power as a head coach, BA has managed to bring in faster Wideouts than he had with the Stealers, shortening the time Carson has to hold the ball while his downfield routes develop.

No matter what, I can't tell you how awesome it is to have a relevant team, and get to tease my local Washington fans that they have another 40 years of Bill Bidwi... I mean Dan Snyder as an owner. :D

A friend who is a Steelers fan said it was because they thought it would prolong Ben's career. Arians offense put Ben at risk. FWIW.

I don't think Pittsburg was wrong in letting Arians go. It just seems that way cause he's killing it as a HC. He is a natural born leader and being a coordinator limits that.

It was in large part a fan driven move. Fans were clamoring for Arians to go for the last year he was there.

Remember the new poster that joined when BA was hired, we was a BA stalker and all he did was trash him. Haven't heard from him since about midway through BA's first year. Probably because BA has been killing it and proved that the poster was just a hater.

I read a rumor that part of it was Tomlin didn't like how well liked and respected BA was and felt that he needed to be the single leader and not have a split of loyalty between himself and BA.

Any org. that listens to their fans on hiring and firing decisions is stupid and the Steelers ownership has proven to be anything but stupid.

I heard this over a year ago and I can't remember who said it. It might have been SK or MB.

It was said that Arians nixed the deal with the Bears because they wanted him to keep some of the current assistant coaches. He felt if he couldn't have a say in who his coaches were he had little chance to succeed.

It may have even been a money thing as some of the assistants were under contact and they didn't want to pay the current coaches salary and all the new the coaches too.
