No Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver amassed more than 700 receiving yards in 2024. Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid create flexibility for the team’s offense, but even the future Hall of Fame duo requires a sturdy offensive infrastructure. The Chiefs must add new pass catchers through the 2025 NFL draft.

Texas Longhorns wide receiver Isaiah Bond is 5’10 5/8’’, 180 lbs. with experience operating in the slot and out wide. He primarily played a slot role at Alabama in 2023 but kicked outside for the Longhorns this past season. Play strength concerns against press coverage might limit his ability to play a high dosage of snaps outside at the NFL level.

Bond is a field-stretching speedster with the fluidity to threaten defenses at all three levels. He quickly accelerates to his top speed, blowing past off-man defenders. Bond displays excellent movement skills and agility. He dips and bends at the hips and ankles to execute sharp cuts or suddenly gear down for comebacks and curls.

Bond uses shoulder and head fakes to shake defensive backs and executes sudden route breaks to cross the cornerback’s face mid-route. His ability to cut on a dime generates natural separation. Bond uses tempo and leverage manipulation to create space for himself. His pure speed helps him pull away from defenders when all else fails.

Texas’ Isaiah Bond has some nasty stop-start + change of direction ability. So much potential as a route runner.

Bond’s speed also translates to big plays. He was fourth in the SEC in YAC per reception among WRs last season (8.0). pic.twitter.com/oHhqa0PSbR

Bond possesses a nice feel for holes in zone coverage and makes some impressive diving catches. His speed makes him a significant weapon after the catch, but he lacks the play strength to break tackles. Bond relies more on straight line speed after the catch than twitch and creativity. His size and arm length limit his value in contested catch situations.

Unfortunately, Bond suffered injuries and setbacks in 2024 that limited his impact in the second half of the season. He needs to improve his release package and show greater attention to detail in his route tree. His top speed is impressive, but he failed to generate consistent vertical separation against fellow speedsters.

Bond’s final collegiate season failed to reach the heights analysts anticipated heading into 2024. The disappointing campaign significantly impacted Bond’s draft stock, but he should still hear his name called in the top 100 selections. He projects as an early career complementary receiver who could develop into a more significant contributor after several seasons.
