2021 - Prove It
Round 2
33-Jacksonville-Desmond Trufant-CB-Washington
*Bradley gets a big, physical CB to add to his defense. Trufant carries a big chip on his shoulder ala Sherman.
34-San Francisco frm KC-Sylvester Williams-DT-North Carolina
*San Fran adds depth to it's d-line and a player with a great first step.
35-Philadelphia-Johnathan Banks-CB-Mississippi St.
*Eagles grab a physical CB to replenish their CB depth.
36-Detroit-Eric Reid-S-LSU
*Lions add the S they hoped Delmas would have developed into.
37-Cincinatti frm Oak-Arthur Brown-OLB-Kansas St.
*Brown would be a first rounder if he was 20lbs heavier. Bengals get a really good player to play WOLB.
38-Arizona-EJ Manuel-QB-Florida St.
*Not my first choice, but I am sure Arians wants a QB to develop and Manuel has all of the physical tools you could want. I would not be shocked if Arians thinks he can correct the rest.
0-Cleveland-Forfeit
39-NY Jets-Matt Barkley-QB-USC
*The Jets get their future QB from the same school they got Sanchez. I think Barkley's experience and IQ will be too much for the Jets to pass on.
40-Tennessee-Tyler Eifert-TE-Notre Dame
*Titans are probably losing Cook to FA, but this gives them more of a traditional TE to help their Jake Locker.
41-Buffalo-Ryan Nassib-QB-Syracuse
*Marrone gets a QB he is familiar with at a price that he doesn't have to committ long term to if a better option arises in the future.
42-Miami-Zack Ertz-TE-Stanford
*Tannahill needs weapons and Ertz is a great matchup issue with the slow LBs of the Pats, Bills, and Jets.
43-Tampa Bay-Alex Okafer-DE-Texas
*Bucs get a grinder at DE who should be able to generate pressure on the QB. A physical DE up front.
44-Carolina-Robert Woods-WR-USC
*Not the most dynamic receiver, but a guy who can eat up the space in the middle that Steve Smith clears out.
0-New Orleans-Forfeit
45-San Diego-Jamar Taylor-CB-Boise St.
*Similar to the Eagles situation, the Chargers need CBs. Taylor is a pretty good one, similar to Cason who they will lose in FA.
46-St. Louis-Khaseem Greene-OLB-Rutgers
*Rams add an athletic LB to compliment Laurinitas inside.
47-Dallas-Jonathan Hankins-DT-Ohio St.
*Cowboys get the guy who "falls" in the draft. Ideal 3 technique to replace Ratliff in the future.
48-Pittsburgh-Jamie Collins-OLB-Southern Miss.
*Pitt replaces Harrison at the WOLB spot with a young, athletic LB who plays very physical for his size.
49-NY Giants-Kyle Long-OT-Oregon
*The Giants add a blood-line player who can play OG or OT depending on what they need. Giants love versatility on their offensive line.
50-Chicago-Gavin Escobar-TE-San Diego St.
*Bears add another weapon for Cutler and the offense.
51-Washington-Darius Slay-CB-Mississippi St.
*Redskins gets a young, fast CB with an agressive attitude.
52-Minnesota-Brandon Williams-DT-Missouri Southern
*The Vikings defense starts by applying pressure up front, and Williams gives them a young, penetrating defensive tackle to develop.
53-Cincinatti-Quinton Patton-WR-Louisiana Tech
*More weapons for Andy Dalton in the passing game. Could take a look at Giovanni Bernard here as well.
54-Miami frm Indy-Will Davis-CB-Utah St.
*Miami adds a CB to replace the departed Sean Smith.
55-Green Bay-Terron Armstead-OT-Arkansas Pine-Bluff
*Sherrod and Bulaga haven't been healthy or great. Armstead gives them another option at OT.
56-Seattle-Cornellius Carradine-DE-Florida St.
*Seattle adds a pass rusher to replace Jason Jones. Have depth to gamble on Carradine's recovery.
57-Houston-Jordan Poyer-CB-Oregon St.
*A physical CB opposite of Jonathan Joseph.
58-Denver-Robert Alford-CB-SE Louisiana
*A smaller CB to replace Tracy Porter next year and Champ Bailey eventually.
59-New England-Logan Ryan-CB-Rutgers
*Not a fast CB, but physical enough to at least be a #2.
60-Atlanta-Eddie Lacey-RB-Alabama
*Rodgers might be the guy in Atlanta, but they still need a banger in short yardage. A cheaper way to get the production they will lose by cutting Turner.
61-San Francisco-Terrance Williams-WR-Baylor
*Several WRs that could be put here, but Williams offers the ability to get deep that the 49ers will lack if AJ Jenkins doesn't develop.
62-Baltimore-DJ Swearinger-S-South Carolina
*Not a big guy, but a playmaker which they will need if Ed Reed doesn't return.
So much speculation as you get deeper into a mock draft, especially before free agency. I tried to stay as close to my top 75 as possible and tried to balance need with overall ability as best I could. Some notable names left off are obviously Margus Hunt, Phillip Thomas, Larry Warford, Barrett Jones, Travis Frederick, Travis Kelce, Justin Hunter, DeAndre Hopkins, DaRick Rogers, Kawann Short, Giovanni Bernard and Montee Ball. I guess that is why the draft is considered deep in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.
