The next chapter of the Benn vs. Eubank rivalry will be written in London this weekend.
British boxing's most anticipated grudge match sees Chris Eubank Jr. take on Conor Benn in a middleweight bout from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, 35 years after their fathers first competed in the ring.
Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr. twice faced off in the 90s, with Eubank Sr. winning the WBO middleweight title with a technical knockout victory over Benn in their first fight before the two fought to a draw in a super middleweight unification three years later.
"I'm more excited about this fight than I was about me and Chris Sr.," Nigel Benn said in February. "I've got more confidence in his fight than I did in my fight when I fought Chris (Sr.). The way that Conor prepares for the fight, he just excels at everything he does. People say he's moving up two weights. Conor walks around at (168 pounds); that’s not a problem."
The two were originally scheduled to fight in 2022, but the fight was called off just days before fight night when Benn tested positive for performance-enhancing drug clomifene. Benn has since picked up two unanimous decision victories in the U.S., while Eubank Jr. most recently scored a technical knockout over Kamil Szeremeta in October.
