I really believe they will promote someone from the staff. But I also believe it will only be by title. At least, Whisenhunt will have a say in any offensive decision.

I don't like it all, didn't we have like 3-4 delay of game penalties and blown timeouts all the time when he was calling the plays?

This is Whisenhunt's offense not Haley's. He built it. Whomever is the OC will not change it. Do you really think that a decision has been made on who will do the play calling and that Chris Mortensen of ESPN has inside information?
I don't think so. All of us on this Cardinal board feel that most likely Whis may call the plays so we have as much inside info as Mortensen.

Getting the right guy for the defense is the key, I'm not at all worried about the new OC.

I hope not. Not for another year or so when he's got the HC stuff grooved perfectly. He still talks about how much he's learning. I don't want him saddled with the playcalling yet.

But if it's true, and he is ready, then I fall back on my mantra...In Whis I trust.

Perhaps this means Grimm will get to OC position.

Well I dunno.. azcentral has only been talking about that same thing all day long.. But lets give Mort the benefit of the doubt.. He's such a crack reporter..

Not thrilled with the idea of any HC calling plays. Another way a HC can have too many hats (GM powers are another way, in this case, unrelated).

Haley's a big loss. He's a super creative guy.
I'm hoping that Haley and Whisenhunt learned from each other.

And the best of luck to Haley in KC.

I am interested in Billick. Really interested.

As an OC, He has a dynamic style. And we have the pieces to make it hum.

Could his ego handle being told what to do by Whisenhunt? Billick was an excellent OC in Minnesota and from what I remember extremely popular with his offensive players there. Its an idea that I think deserves at least a passing thought (much moreso than Mike Martz).

I don't think Billick settles for anything less than a HC position. He has a very nice, stress free, well paying job as a broadcast analyst and is not too bad either. He has options and can wait if he wants for the right job.

Billick was always talking up the Cards. He really loves the pieces we have in place.
