Which GM traded for Harden?
Which GM is able to attract Free agents that actually fit what their team needs.?
It isn't close. That means Morey is by far the better GM. The better GM usually wins the trades he makes.
Who's roster would you prefer. Morey's or McDonough's?
Morey is a proven, quality GM, but he isn't batting 1.000 and McD isn't hitting .000.
JC is right.
I'm on the brink with McD, but this move... IMO the backlash is a product of people expecting things to suck rather than a reaction of the trade itself.
If someone had suggested right after the draft that we make this exact trade I think the reaction would have been "LOL, the Rockets are not stupid enough to take on Knight."
And again, I know I said it earlier, Morey has buttered his bread on analytics, the moves they've made this summer are moves that I doubt they'd even consider in past seasons. They got close to a title and now I think they're flailing. The Morey of a couple seasons ago wouldn't have touched players like Anthony and Knight with a 10 foot pole.
Morey and Ainge are currently considered 2 of the best GMs in the league, but Ainge had a really rough first 4 years in Boston, Morey basically treaded water for 5 years prior to the Harden trade, if OKC had not stupidly screwed up the Harden situation I'm pretty sure Morey doesn't survive another season.
