Primarily left handed hitters. The first five = left-switch-left-left-left, plus Avila bats left at 7th. Among the position players, only Owings and Ahmed are righty hitters (batting sixth and eight). And Goldy is on the bench.

Low batting averages, on-base percentages, runs driven in and runs scored notwithstanding, it will be interesting to see which stat in the lineup prevails.

And whether they are selective in their swings or try to hit every pitch out of the park and wind up with popups and strikeouts.

Go D-backs!

I did not even notice that Goldy was not in the line up. Nice catch.
I just skimmed through the line up

They pitched around Jake Lamb to get to today's cleanup hitter, Daniel Descalso.

2-run homer. D-backs up 2-1.

EDIT: 'Sorry DJ, we were posting at the same time.

D-backs win. 2 in a row. It's nice to score more than 1 run on 2 hits.

Day game tomorrow at 12:30 with Corbin starting, before a day off Thursday. Then Friday at 6:30 vs. the Marlins.

Godley looks to be the pitcher to drop from the starting rotation when Ray comes back. He's been more Goldie than godly. 'Sorry, couldn't resist. :)

Maybe we can run off a few series wins in a row here and get right. How can everyone slump at the exact same time? How can Alex Avila have literally ten times more strikeouts than hits for an entire month and still be in the lineup most every day?

I would think because the GM who made the decision to bring him here is trying to save face by telling the manager to "give him a chance" over and over and over.

Steve said on the air today that the D-backs are not going to give up on him. Steve can be outspoken about team blunders, but I think he has been told to quote the company line about Avila.

Godley (5-4) struck out seven and walked two in a win over the Reds on Tuesday, allowing two runs on six hits in six innings.

Godley got his first win in his last six starts, throwing his fifth quality start on the year. Godley now has a 4.38 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and has 59 strikeouts in 61.2 innings. The strikeout numbers are good, but he's also allowed 31 walks (the second highest allowed in the NL), which negatively impacts his season averages. His next start will come against the Giants in San Francisco.

Descalso went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Reds.

Descalso took starter Luis Castillo deep in the first inning for his sixth homer of the year. The 31-year-old has been productive in his playing time, hitting .254/.348/.500 with 10 doubles, 24 RBI and 18 runs while playing around the diamond. Descalso is not always a lock to start a game, but manager Torey Lovullo has done well to slot him into the lineup with relative consistency.
