We play soft zone defense with no pass rush never doubling a defender. Oh and our defensive backs have a combined intelligence quotient below room temperature* and are slow with no agility.

No pass rush + no cover skills, against Brett freaking Favre = 56 points against.

Unreal. Bring back the 4-3, give me linebackers with lateral movement, DBs who can think, and some mixed zone/man coverage. Let's stunt once in a while and let's try to squeeze a rusher into a gap not just take O-lineman head-on.

I am starting to think we should bring back the standard 4-3 D as well. This 3-4 Hybrid thing is giving Pendy to many options. When Pendy has to many options he way outhinks himself and turns into a mand scientist. He needs to come up with a clear cut game plan and scheme and stick to it.

I think Pendys constant tinkering and mad scientist style is not condusive to the players learning and knowing what they should be doing on every Sunday. They might be thinking to much instead of just playing?

How bout we go to a full blown 3-4 defense?? The Steelers are one of the best defensive teams year in and year out. We have a coaching staff that knows it like the back of their hand.

This team has played a 4-3 for years and has sucked. I understand the argument that we probably don't have the personel to play the 3-4. However, we evidentaly don't have the personel to play the 4-3 if this season is any indication.

TOO MANY FRICKIN SCHEMES! Sometimes you just have to line up mano y mano and let everyman do there job.
We blitz, they screen.
We come up to stuff a run, they pass.

Sad to say we COULD have won this game had the D pitched a shut out in the second half.

That being said can we really expect the D to overcome 7 turnovers? How can a team make so many mistakes? Two steps forward , three steps back.

In short.....a difference yes. A different outcome? No. It's not like we lost this game by 1 touchdown. Even the score was not as close as it appeared despite the 3rd quarter performance. The Jets had put in some of their scrubs to give them time in that 3rd quarter.

You need to take that one step back. Would that have helped this horrid offensive line?? Warner would not have been in the position to turn the ball over that many times had we established a running game and the defense showed up. Plus the fact they can't protect a fumble prone QB is not a positive either.

we don't have a pass rush Farve has a bad ankle and we can't even put any pressure on him thats terrible we should have blitz that old man all day. And for are secondary is terrible except for Hood and Wilson. The receivers were open all day long I mean WIDE OPEN where was the coverage. Rolle is terrible I have not bashed him all year but he just don't have it. I don't know what has happen to Dansby but he made big plays all time last year. And another thing that makes me mad we can't tackle missing 19 tackles is unacceptable. I know the defense was put in some bad situations in the 2nd half but they needed to step it up and they didn't. As for Clancy I don't know if it the plays he calls are the right or are defense players just stink.

Ive been complaining yr and yr about our safeties and CB depth.

Same thing happens every yr.. Adrian gets banged up, and we're left with two horrid safeties patrolling centerfield.. Francisco, Celestin.. same guys every yr.. they stink

Not to mention a CB always seems to get dinged and we are left with using Ralph Brown, Matt Ware, DRC who is a raw rookie

When we have our normal set of DBs available.. we can get by, but behind the top four of Hood, Green, Wilson, Rolle we are terrible..

Not to mention Rolle needs ADub to mask alot of his deficiencies

The front 7 has holes in it relying on mediocre talents like Laboy, Robinson and Smith and young players like Campbell and Branch.. Okeafor, Haggans, and Berry are all past their primes

Bottomline, there isnt that much talent there, and when we suffer injuries we have no quality depth

What I would like to see us do, is fire Clancy.. and go to a 3-4 next yr using:

DE-Dockett
DT:Watson/Branch
DE:Campbell

OLB:Laboy
ILB:dansby
ILB:Hayes
OLB:draft a 3-4 OLB who can terrorize QBs!

CB:Hood
CB-DRC
NB:Rolle
S:Wilson
S:Spend a freakin draft pick for once on a stud safety

To many wide open recievers with no pass rush. Is this the schem or the players? We were without Berry and Wilson. Fransisco played a pretty solid game but got very little help. The rushers looked slow motion at times. The other side is that we gave them great field position because of Warners horrid first half. Fumblin, bumblin, stupid stuff.

No more long trips please. We couldn't have nbeeb any more lathargic that we were on defense the whole game. It reminded me of another lose to the Eagles a few years back. The QB couldn't move and we couldn't get to him but once.

The OC's in the league have this defense figured out,not that it was that hard. If you want to score, run mis-direction and screen/swing passes. The Cards can't stop either. The problem is they can't practice against it becaue our offense can't run them either .
