What story does he have to help? He is spending time in jail. He admitted to his mistake. What more could you ask for? Everything I've seen from Haggan has been pretty stand-up so why is all this skeptism necessary?

"He should have been with his daughter." Really? He and his wife don't deserve some away time? For all we know the sitter could have been their sitter for a while and for whatever reason panicked this time. I can make assumptions too... Another assumption I have is that I doubt that sitter will be hired by Haggan again...

Some of you people are just way to perfect for me...

Really? This isn't his first drunken rodeo. His past is part of the reason I find his story to be at least questionable.

so if you have a kid with a medical condition you will devote the rest of your entire life to sitting at home with them? I can understand the hire someone competant comment but the rest is just dumb. Parents need nights to themselves here and there.
sure. But at the end of the day, his child is his responsibility. If her health is poor, take precautions before your date night. If it means you pay more for a nurse with training with that condition, you do it. If it means you have to stay sober at the concert in case an emergency situation arises, you do it

don't get me wrong. I'm not bashing on the guy for the way he handled it. He made a mistake, he's taking his punishment. My comment was more directed to the folks of the "if my kid was in trouble, I'd drive with a .55BAC, run every red light, yadda yadda" point of view. If you're so concerned about your kid with a pre-existing medical condition, take care of them. He could have gone out and not got obliterated, he chose to do that instead. I actually really like Haggans, and think he's been nothing but an asset to this team both on and off the field. He screwed up, it happens. But I don't see any way it's justified

Yup.

as I said, proper preparing is necessary.

To say you should just be home is simply ignorance. that is all I commented on. Noone is disagreeing with the fact that your sitter should be able to handle it.

At the same time, maybe the sitter can handle it usually and panicked. It is what it is. Not everything you do and plan for goes smoothly just because you planned for it.

not saying he should just stay home. But if it comes down to going out drinking and leaving your kid with a medical condition with an under-qualified sitter or staying home, he should have stayed home. And if there was any doubt, he should not have put himself in a situation where he was in no condition to drive. He messed up, he's human. Nobody was hurt, he's serving his time. But I don't see any way to justify what he did...

Was his sitter unqualified or are you just assuming the sitter was unqualified?

Your first post said he should just stay home. I refuted that. The rest I understand. Your wrestling a ghost here.

I assume by his rushing home drunk that she was under-qualified. Otherwise, I would like to think she wouldn't have called him home panicked
The one and only comment I disputed.
fair enough

Even if his daughter was not part of the story, he would have been driving home drunk, most likely.

Another assumption.

We don't know if his wife was drinking. (We don't know if his wife even drinks.) They could have been with friends and one of those friends could have been the designated driver.)

Sigh....CardLogic nailed it. When's training camp start?

THIS ONE IS FOR YOU KOC. TIM WE DID IT.
Question for me is if he was 3x the legal limit when pulled over, why would the police continue to let him drive as giving him an escort home? So its ok to drive drunk as long as you have a cop in front and back of you?

+1

Youd think they would put him in the cop car and drive him home at 90 mph with the lights on. Protect and serve.

IMO Police are there to investigate crimes/make arrests and enforce the law. If you honestly believe you do not have to protect YOURSELF in this day and age then look at all of the home invasion/shootings/etc where response time is 5-15 minutes. You know how much can happen in 5 minutes? Hell 3 minutes seems like a lifetime in the boxing ring. I could only imagine trying to fend off a home invader with a cell phone and a vase....

Then again on the flipside dont be an idiot like the guy who called the police as he held the robber at gunpoint until the police arrived, once the police got there he ignored their demands he drops the gun (remember they dont know who the bad guy is at first) and ended up shooting the homeowner....

I agree to protect yourself, jus sayin the cop coulda helped him instead of having him continue to drive drunk.

Ps my home invasion lasted 5 minutes, called the cops when they left and they showed up 10 mins later and accused me of being a drug dealer because "this doesnt happen to normal people"
