UNCASVILLE – The Sheehan girls basketball team won the Class MM championship game with a 56-51 victory over top-seeded East Catholic Sunday afternoon at Mohegan Sun Arena.
It was Sheehan’s first title since 1976.
Megan Wresien had 22 points to lead No. 3 Sheehan, which withstood a furious comeback by East Catholic to hold on for the win. East Catholic (24-4) was led by Urielle Abrokwa with 18 points. Morgan Bridgeforth had 16 points and five steals.
Jenna Wresien added 13 points for Sheehan.
