The recent discussion regarding RATM (that now has expanded into the inevitable Audioslave route) reminded me on a project that had so much immense potential....
Most of you probably remember the "Faculty" soundtrack featured a stellar cover of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In the Wall Part 1 & 2" by Class of '99..... Also, several are aware that it wasnt just some ordinary group... but a "super group" of sheer awesome proportion featuring Alice-in-Chains Layne Staley on vocals, RATM lead-guitarist Tom Morello, the Cult/Porno for Pyros bassist, Martyn Lenoble, Jane's Addiction/Porno for Pyros, Stephen Perkins, on drums along with record producer Matt Serletic playing keyboards.....
What an ensemble, however, unfortunately Layne's health at the time due to extensive herion use deteoriated to the extent that he couldnt even be seen in the project's video, so they used clips of AIC's final concert tour......
I often wonder if they had potential to be long-term if it wasnt for Layne's health?
True, AIC at the time were compiling their greatest hits, but Cantrell was also focusing on his solo career..... RATM was about to take a hiatus, also I'm certain Lenoble, Serletic, and Perkins would have made themselves available for at least one full-length album........ This could have had more potential than both Audioslave and Velvet Revolver have now...... It's a brilliant cover to an absolute classic, but just imagine if thosefive actually did some original material together? It would have been more riveting than Layne's other side-project, Mad Season....
For those who havent heard (or in a long time have not listened), here's a Layne Staley video montage set to both Class of '99 version of Another Brick In the Wall Part 1/2:

Again.. just imagine the great impact they could have had on the music industry, however, obviously it wasnt meant to be......
