Roger Clemens beat out Randy Johnson to win his seventh Cy Young award as the National League's best pitcher for 2004.

What a load of crap.

The award is for the best pitcher, and Randy was that clearly. The lack of run support is something he could not have helped, therefore he should not have been penalized for having two less wins, and 10 more losses than Clemens.

It really wasn't that close as Clemens got 23 of 32 first place votes.

i think the whole RJ trade rumors thing and this dissatisfaction with the organization was the deal breaker for him. based on his pitching stats, he was a lock for the Cy Young in my book....but based on what happened during the last months of the season, it looks like he went out of favor with A LOT of people.
