Two teams a week ago that we had a lot of stake in. Now we can only hope for Cleveland to go crazy and win all the time. (not for us, but to give their pick to us some value)

So, even though I still like him, he is shooting 4-22 today. 4-22!

But Cleveland is up right now pretty big.

The Knicks have looked pathetic their last 2 games.

I think the odds are growing daily for the Knicks to slip out of the playoffs. They gave up a lot of points when they shipped KVH.

The Googs trade would officially become the worst of all time if the Knicks miss the playoffs and Utah wins the lotto.

The don't get the Knicks pick, they get our lowest.

Unless the Cavs make the playoffs, they get the Knicks pick.

I'm having flashbacks right now.

Marbury playing horribly most of the game then exploding in the final quarter. Of course, it's too little, too late...

Flashbacks.

He was saying that the Knicks could miss the playoffs and win the lottery. If that's the case, the Suns get the Knicks' pick and the Jazz get the Suns' pick.

To add to the confusion, the Boston Celtics have three first round picks: their own, the Pistons pick, and the Dallas pick. The Boston pick is roughly #15, the Piston pick is #23, and the Dallas pick is #26.

If the Suns traded their lottery pick (after the ping pong balls have fallen) for the three Celtics picks, they could use the Dallas pick to pay off Utah and and Pistons pick to pay off the Spurs. They would have a picks to use to clear cap space and still be able to use the better of either the Knicks or Celtics pick in the draft.

It is not out the question that the Suns could get as useful a player at the #15 slot as at #6, but for about $1 million less. On the other hand, the Celtics need everything so a high pick might be a real plus for them.

I might do the deal if only screw over Utah. :D

Is the pick given to the Jazz BEFORE or AFTER the draft lottery? There are then 4 scenarios:

1) The picks stay as they are (#5 and #18 or so) and the Jazz gets the 18.

2) The Knicks pick "wins" the lottery, and we get to keep the #5, but the Jazz gets the top 3 pick.

3) The Knicks pick "wins" the lottery, and we get that pick, and the Jazz get the #5.

4) WE win the lottery, which in this case is almost exactly like #1 above.

Which one is the correct one? Which one is impossible due to rules?

Unfortunately none of us really knows if the deal specified the picks to be considered. In other words we do not know if the sons must give either their own pick or the New York Knicks pick to Utah, or if they could use Cleveland's pick if they make the playoffs. We do not know if they could acquire a later first-round draft pick from somewhere else to satisfy the trade. We just don't know.
