Rockies' manager Bud Black dropped a bit of a bomb on fantasy owners on Monday, when he announced that veteran right-hander Wade Davis would open the season as the team's closer. It's not surprising in the sense that Davis has 137 career saves to his name -- including a league-leading 43 in his first season with the Rockies in 2018 -- it's surprising because of how downright awful he was in 2019. When Davis burst onto the scene in the Royals' bullpen in 2014, his fastball averaged 96.7 mph. It dipped to 95.5 in his final season with the Royals, 94.6 in 2017 with the Cubs and 94.4 in his first season with the Rockies in 2018.
