Question...

When Hanks and Berry get up to the big transmitter towards the end of the movie, they find the floor littered with many long-dead bodies on the floor. Why are they there? Were they waiting for rescue from the off-world colonies? Were they hiding there from the tribesmen and got slaughtered? What.... WHAT?

I thought the movie answered that. Weren't they the characters from the Neo Seoul storyline?

I didn't get that. They didn't say that specifically.

So I didn't want to spoil it, but here is the detail behind my explanation:

The clone girl becomes a Messiah. She and her followers go to the facility to broadcast her message worldwide. The authorities find them there and massacre them. The bodies are those of her followers.

In death, she becomes the religious icon for the distant future story line. Tom Hanks does not handle it well when he learns she was once human.

Ok.... I considered that possibility, except....

After all the troops were massacred during Somni's speech, are we to believe that they just left all the bodies there? And they didn't look like soldiers laying there. It appeared more like families. In one case, 2 skeletons seemed to be in an embrace, hardly what one would expect from battle troops. Just out of curiosity, is your explanation from the book, or your understanding of the movie?

I fully understand the 2nd paragraph of your spoiler.

Movie. Never read the book. And it has been a while since I watched the movie, so I could be way off. That was just my interpretation, but maybe I read it wrong.

The movie was OK. I thought at times they did a piss poor job transitioning to the other times and other times it seemed spot on. I thought the movie was very uneven. Having said that, it was light years better than Speed Racer. The jury is still out on the Wachowski's IMO.

I loooooooooved this movie. Seriously, it was amazing. Go see it if you value Hollywood taking risks. Hell, go see it for 6 unique and interwoven stories. Go see it, because you will never see anything like it again:

Unfortunately, when it was over, the guy in front of me turned around any yelled out into the theater, "Did anyone get it?"

Yeah, that's why it'll never be a hit, right there.

I cant say I was glued to the movie while I watched it this morning but I still knew what was going on. I know it is hard for people to use their brain cells while watching a movie so I will give your theater shouter a pass lol. :p

Amazing film, especially the last 90 minutes. Ebert has a great review, saying that its a masterpiece, but impossible to describe. I get the impression that he thinks this film is another film like Hugo that shows a love of cinema. Just in a MUCH different fashion. Keep your thinking caps because you'll need them and don't leave the theater or you'll miss something.

I finally watched this and wow was it fantastic.

I will have to try watching this again in one sitting. I watched it in chunks, which is how I typically watch movies, and I lost track of what was happening a few times. Fascinating film though.
