Well, depending on what kind of investment you'd like to make you can have your own "cloud."
Long story short, I've been toying with home servers/NASs (windows/linux) for the last decade. However, today the abundance of off-the-shelf servers and the ease at setting them up is amazing.
There are numerous brands - Qnap, WD, Synology, Seagate, Thecus and so on. They all have add-on packages including your very own cloud storage.. or gallery.. or media server.. and on and on.
All the content sits on your server in your house accessible where ever you are. You can take it a step further and register your own domain name to point to the server.
As for the cloud services they're all the same for the most part. The free versions will have some limitations. I've used Box, Google, Onedrive, Dropbox, but have dumped them all now that I've got my own.
I'm a big fan of having control of my digital data
